Accuracy of 3D u/s at 16 weeks

Ok, so I have dh on my back about the accuracy of a 3D u/s at 16 weeks.  I was excited to book an appt so I can know for sure if it was a boy or girl.  Dh insists that we will still not have a defintie answer because if they say girl (praying to God...lol) then it could still be a boy if the testicles have not decended.  What is the possiblitiy of this?  I know there are ladies who have had it done and seen everything but what is the possibility of them telling me the wrong info??

i would call the place you booked the appt. with.  i am sure they would tell you when a good time to come is.

That's the thing...I called tons of places in my state and they all told me they wouldn't do it before 18-20 weeks but I found this place in another state and they told me they can tell at 16 weeks.  I know with ds#1 they told me he was a "he" with a regular ultrasound at 16 weeks.  I never had a 3D.  With this one, I just want to make sure that if it is a girl (wishful thinking) it really is a girl and I don't get surprised later on that it was a boy.  I guess it can't hurt to try and not get my hope up too much if I do hear girl....yeah right...lol.

well im sure you don't want to hear this but i would wait.  especially if you are going to spend the money on it and you want them to be as close as 100% sure.  the last thing you need is to think girl the entire time and find out in the delivery room.

Tee hee hee....Isn't that the truth.  Actually, I just called them and found out that they don't do the gender determination with 3D....because it's clearer with 2D for some reason.  So I upgraded my package so I can get both a 2D and 3D.  They insisted that for gender determination, it would be best to do 2D???  That shocks me.  I would think with 3D that it would be all there up front and personal.  So the saga continues......

when are you going?

I go on Sept 10th at 12:30.  Dh was like "well, lets do the 2D this time" and when I'm furthur along he wants to do the big 3D/4D package (regardless of sex....just want to do something different with this baby).  That will happen the week before Thanksgiving when I'm 26 weeks.  So I have it all planned out.  I know that if it is a boy, it will show at 16 weeks with 2D since it did with my first son, but if I hear girl....that will basically just string me along in this waiting game for another month or so.  Oh the things we will do to find out early.  I really wish I had not done pink or blue at this point.  I am dying to know what pinkfamilymom heard yesterday.  She took that test too.  I am running a tally in my head with that test....ugh,ugh,ugh.

i'm going to have it done again as well but not until i am 30 weeks along.  i did it with zach and boy could you see his weiner sooooo clear.  there was no doubt!!

don't worry about that test.  as far as im concerned none of them work.

what state are you in?

So you are due a month after me.  That is cool.  Do you have any suspicions with this one?  Did you try for the girl with supplements and timing or were you trying for the girl?  Anyway, I have never done those sonos and I figured that it would be neat with this being my third pregnancy.  I still daydream about having a girl and how wonderful that would be.  I am kinda obsessed and I really hate being that way.  I guess I just need closure on the whole gender thing.  I hope you are right about the test.  My head says it is totally possible (especially with all of these tests being so wrong lately) buy my heart is saying it just would figure that it is right. 

We are on the eastern shore.  We bounce back and forth to states since we have tons of family near us.  We are from Md.

 

i found myself on this board because acu-gen said girl and my ultrasound said boy.  i thought i was the only one who they got wrong but we all know that wasn't the case!

gender has never been an issue with me, so i never tried to sway the odds.  but, my sister got the shettles book and i read it just out of curiosity and when i conceived my 3rd child i KNEW he was a boy because i had ovulated the very next day.  and with zachary same thing.  i just felt in my heart he was a boy.

now this one, if i had to guess, i would say girl.  just a feeling.  and my husband is so convinced it's a girl (he says he is a pro..lol) he won't even discuss boy names.  but, if it is a boy, that would be great for zach since they will be 13 months apart.  so either way if just fine with me :)  although my daughter really wanted a sister - she will be 14 years old when this baby is born so she won't even really be close to her so it doesn't matter.

That is cool that you are fine either way.  I wish I could be that way.  I am so fixated on the sex that I have not been able to enjoy being pregnant and that is just a shame.  I wish I was a different person.  Do you feel any different with this pregnancy that would make you think girl again?  Just wondering....not that it makes a difference.  I felt different with this one.  I am now kind of feeling normal (except for the extreme tiredness).  I was sick as a dog in the first trimester and I was not with my other two boys.  I have booked a regular appt on Thursday to make sure everything is ok since I had some bad cramping this weekend.  I think they are just growing pains but I just want to make sure.  Maybe while I'm there they can take an early peek......

after just doing the 2d & 3d u/s i know they can see at 16 weeks so go & do it. the genitalia was so clearly visible & for $95 it's totally worth it. hey, wasn't a mom who was hoping for a boy supposed to find out yesterday ?

you have to understand i have sons and a daughter - so of course i don't have that gender absense feeling.  but after belonging to this board, it sure has made me understand more.  i really do feel for you :(

yes, this pregnancy is completely different.  im bitchier, moody, EMOTIONAL, and i want NOTHING to do with sex.  with my boys, i would NOT leave my husband alone.  i think that is why he is soooo convinced its a girl.  but, we shall see.  i'm for sure going to find out though.

the other night i tivo'd "the notebook".  my husband came in the room in a panic.  he said, "nissy, you can NOT watch that movie while you pregnant - i have seen it and you will be a mess and you will leave me for not being romantic enough"...LMAO!  so i said okay and he agreed to buy me the movie after i have the baby...LOL

We are forum buddies today!!  I have not seen that movie but good to know for the future.  I didn't want sex with any of the pregnancies but have heard that with boys.  Can't say I fall in that category but my dh sure wishes I did....I'm sure.  I am craving alcohol terribly.  I mean...it has gotten bad.  I don't indulge...never would but I am starting to get really angry with dh when he has a glass.  Plus we went to a really elegant restaurant for our anniversary last weekend and he got wine and I almost died.  I need to smell it always.  I am not a big fan of wine to begin with and maybe have a glass here and there when I'm not pregnant.  I have craved fruit terribly so this is why I think I want wine too....but who knows.

maybe you are lacking something to be craving it like that?  perhaps your dr. may tell you what it could be.  i know my cousin craved ice and he tested her to see if she was anemic - which she wasn't. 

i can't wait for your ultrasound.  i won't have mine until around halloween.
