Has anybody used IVF PGD in Russia yet?

    Hi Girls,

I'm an old member of In-Gender but when natural swaying for a boy didn't work for us I have now ventured over to meet all of you ladies in the Hi-Tech threads - and after obviously hoping that I would never have to go hi-tech - I feel really strengthened and positive about our future now after reading a lot of your posts.

I'm from the UK and just wanted to know if there had been any updates on people using the Russian clinic AVA-St Petersburg?

As much as I would prefer to undergo treatment in the States, I think it's just a little too far and a little too expensive unfortunately.

Russia is definitely the nearest at only a couple of hours flying time and seems very reasonably priced - although I'm going to have to start finding people who have visited them first before even starting to consider using them. Hmmm, also don't fancy the cold too much either!

    Hi

I am in a similar situation to you, but the other way round as would love a DD, I am also from the UK.  I have posted a similar thread on here, but so far have had no replies :-(

I know what you mean, as I am considering this clinic, but would really like to hear from other people who I have used it.  USA does seem the best option, but it is so far away and more expensive, but in a ideal world I would prefer to do PGD with microsort in the states.  I have contacted another clinic in Turkey who sent me a price list ( they are also pretty reasonable ) but again I have not heard from any one who has used them, if you want I can forward their e-mail to you?

Let me know how you get on!

Re: Has anybody used IVF PGD in Russia yet?

    Hi Ola,

Thanks for replying. I have emailed them just asking few questions and I have also asked whether they have a list of past patients who wouldn't mind me contacting them to just see how their experience was and whether they were successful. So far haven't had a reply!!!

I've also contacted The Rainsbury Clinic for a price list. They organise all your IVF drug treatment in the UK and then arrange for you to travel abroad and have your PGD in another country. I'm not sure whether they only use America or maybe they use Russia as well. I'll wait and see how horrific their price list is first!

Other than that I'm not sure. To be honest I felt quite positive about Russia. My husband had an operation on his arm in Helsinki a few years ago and I must admit their hospital and Dr's were all very modern and professional. Much like a UK private hospital. And as this Russian clinic is linked to Finland I assume it would be much the same. Plus it says it's a teaching hospital too. I really like their prices but if they're not any good then what's the point? It's difficult to know.

Some people mention Cyprus and Turkey but I think I've seen some negative comments about Cyprus. Not sure about Turkey.

Another question I asked Russia was if they used a UK gynaecologist to do all the treatment (like The Rainsbury). So I'm waiting to hear that too as they say a full course of IVF with PGD including all drugs is 4500-5000 euros (about £3,300). That's definitely the cheapest I've seen.

Anyway, I'll let you know when they contact me!

Re: Has anybody used IVF PGD in Russia yet?

    Hi there

I have just sent an e-mail to the Dr. Chanysheva at AVA-Peter with similar questions and I cant wait to have her answer. Im from Finland and this clinic definitely seems to be very professional, but Im also still desperately looking for someone who has done a successful cycle there and can verify it! Im planning my cycle for next spring, I just hope that gender selection is still available by then, as the clinc is not sure how long they can still offer it :-(

When are you planning to cycle?

Anyway, I keep you posted whenever I get a reply!

Oh really?  thats not good news....I was planning early 2009, I hope that they don't stop offering it!

Otherwise, there is still the Clinic in Turkey, but again I have no testimonials to back it up, but their website looks pretty good and they hold consultations in the UK.....so still an option.

With regard to the Rainsbury Clinic, I have also contacted them and they sound very good, but too pricy for me...I was quoted £13,000 for one cycle and thats not including flights and accomodation in Cyprus where the transfer takes place.  I did read one post on here, somewhere, by a girl who used them and was successful after one cycle.  I also know that there is a clinic in Spain which offers PGD, as I have read about it in a magazine article, but have yet to track it down, but I am still on the case!.........

    Hi Ola,

Do you know anything about the legalities of treatment Cyprus? It actually looks really attractive - professional clinics, lovely weather, nice hotels, short flying time - but then I just noticed a post about PGD for family balancing being 'forbidden' in Cyprus.

I'll contact the Rainsbury again to find out what clinic it is they use. Then see about finding if I can get cheaper drugs & monitoring in the UK than the Rainsbury would offer if it really is £13000 a cycle!!!

    Thanks

I too have been looking at this clinic and was wondering  the same as you.

As for the Rainsbury clinic they use a clinic in Cyprus but I'm not sure which one.  I already have 2 embryos in storage in the UK from IVF....I need IVF to get pregnant anyway...I was hoping to get them transferred.

    hi everyone,

i have been looking into pgd aswell, i have 3 boys and really want a girl. my hubby says defiantly last time. the rainsbury clinic is far to expensive...i was quoted 13,000 for one cycle...do they think were made of money....i know im desprate but not for that amount!

in america it is about 10,000 depending where you look at.....the cheapest ive seen is in russia the ava peter clinic...3,300 roughly plus extra expense for going twice and blood tests they want. ive been looking at cypus and had a quote for 5,600 but still looking into that one...

i think ive made my mind up to go to russia but would like to get info off some one whos already been..as i live in u.k. like do we have to be there for 2.5 weeks? or is there a place in u.k. that will start it off? and how did they find it?

the clinic in Turkey is very reasonable too, www.ivfturkey.com with this clinic they will let you start off with the portland hospital in London.  Hope this helps, and on the plus also, at least its warm and you could have it as your holiday with your boys.

    Hi Tam,

Im planning on using AVA-Peter, will have my initial consult in June and cycle next year. I have been trying to get some contact information of ex-patients who did IVF/PGD there, but still waiting to get them... I talked to Dr. Chanysheva on the phone the other day, she told me that they have had many patients from the UK who probably wouldnt mind being contacted. I keep you posted if there is any new information on them.

    hi everyone

im still doing research and was going to go to ava peter but then found the on in cyprus which one of the girls suggested but when i put it in for reviews there was a newspaper article about gender selection being banned in turkey and cyprus as i have found they are slightly cheaper and more convient than ava peter because i have read that if ypu go to ava peter you have to find your own clinic in england if you dont go for 21 days ... is this true?
