Bloodwork

Hi Feb ladies,

I had my first set of HCG and Progesterone levels done today

HCG:

19 DPO 1492 PROG 17.4

21 DPO 2982 PROG 14.4

She was concerned that my progesterone level dropped so i am going back on Friday to check that level again too see if possible miscarriage again or if i may need supplements. Said my HCG levels looked great!!

Sorry your prog. dipped! I hope it's normal next appt!!! Your hcg does look good! I had my first labs last week. Nurse called to say it was all normal. I asked about my hcg And she said oh we dont do numbers unless we think there is a problem. I was like what?? :( they did them with both my dd's and I wasn't havin problems and given my previous two miscarriages I thought they would do them! I told her that and she apologized.. Grr!

Yes, I had it repeated on Friday and the nurse told me she would call me with the results and I havent heard from her. Im praying they are all ok and my progesterone didnt drop more. Geeez you would think someone from the office would have called me

I have been feeling a little dizzy, and nausea aversion to every food and salt tastes very, very salty too me. Oh and my hair is shedding alot.

I hope all is well! and you're welcome! I hate when they dont call back... I'm always so diligent about calling my patients to check on them so it bothers me when the same courtsey isn't repaid by my own Dr.! I agree on aversion and things... my sense of smell is extremely heightened!

 i had my first bloodwork to confirm my pregnancy back when i was about 4wk3dys and it was only at a 16 so i was called in to take another hcg and progestrine test today hopefully hear some good news since im 6wk1dy today

Hopefully they tell you your results and dont leave you hanging like mine did. Oh and ask for your hcg number and prog number.

danie- I hope your numbers are doing good! I agree with RR, I'd call because it makes me nuts to wait!

 I never knew to ask about hte actual levels until recently so i asked about my first test and now Ill be asking about every test. ive always just got the yes your pregnant and left it at that lol

Finally!! I got my other levels today my progesterone dropped a little more 13.8 and my HCG doubled 5392 I was 5 weeks and 2 days. They want too start me on progesterone. I am undecided about the progesterone supp because what if my body is trying to abort the pregnancy for a reason like a chromosome problem. I just think that sometimes we mess with stuff (medical) that should be left alone. Anyone else have too take progesterone and was the outcome ok??

RR- That is a tough decision, and can be hard to think about. My very close friend has lost 5 babies in a row after having 2 normal healthy boys back to back. Each time it was due to low progestrone. She actually developed a progestrone problem, the cysts that develop on your ovary that supportsthe pregnancy with progestrone until the bosy takes over, well her cysts were absorbing too quickly and the pregnancy was lost before her body could take over. She started progestrone suppositories and is currently 7 weeks pregnant for the first time in 2 years. So you never know! Good luck to you!

i have never had to take progesterone but a girl here at my office did the first trimester and maybe even some of the 2nd trimester and she has a beautiful baby girl now with no health problems whatsoever.  i think if your body wants to abort it will even with progesterone suppositories.  best of luck

Thanks BB and TT. I think you are both right and my HCG levels are increasing which should mean the baby is developing well but may need some help sticking. Ohhh decisions

I had my levels drawn last monday 17.9 wed 14.3 friday 13.8 so after the last test they said i should be on progesterone cause it was steadily declining.
