Luisa, do you mind me asking where you got HT for 3000 euros? Am trying to talk DH into it for next time and, like the other lady, am harbouring secret twin girl fantasies too! I'll settle for one though!! :-)

Thanks everyone for your replies. It makes me feel better knowing that others feel the same way I do about girls. Babybleu - thanks for sharing your experience. My dd1 is awesome! Everyone is blown away by her and some people want daughters after they meet her. lol Haven't met dd2 yet but hope she is just like her. I feel that I won't be a good mommy to girls because I am not a girly girl. Was always a tomboy and was never into pink, clothes, shoes, drama, etc. The GD gets worse when people make negative comments about having daughters such as the awful teenage years and that daughters always love their daddies more. I believe in daughters being closer to dads because that is how I was. I was so close with my dad and not too much with my mom. I don't want my daughters to be like that with me. I also feel awful about not enjoying my pregnancies after I find out the sex. I hope I get over this soon. This is supposed to be the happiest time in my life, not the worst. Luisa - so sorry to hear that HT didn't work for you. I hope you get your boy one day.

SadDad:
Sportsfan1, I want a so very badly and my ideal family was either just one boy, or two boys. I found another site when we first found out we were having a girl and had my initial GD shock. The site is designed for dads. No one, not one would mention being disappointed about gender. It was like all were 100% carefree about what their wives had or they were not willing to express it aloud. I don't mind being one of the few guys here because I can explain my desire for a son openly here and not frustrate my wife. Plus I'm not good at explaining feelings to others IRL so it is just better to type them here even if no one were to ever read them or reply. I do hope we have a boy some day.
SadDad - it's good to know that there are dads on this site:). I'm very surprised that the dads on that other site aren't disappointment about their child's gender. I would think men would be more into having boys than women. Even the dads with lots of daughters were not disappointed? Wow! To tell you the truth I want a boy more than my husband does. lol I mean, he wants one but I obsess over it more. Not sure if he will go for the HT because of the money but we will still look into it. Hope we both get our boys one day!!

My story is a little different but I can absolutely relate.I would LOVE to have a son one day, but I am in no way dissapointed to have my daughter. If baby # 2 is another girl, I know I will be sad at first not to be having my boy, but I also believe that God has a purpose for her life and that she is meant to be part of our family and with time, I will be excited to have another little girl! Personally,I have always felt that if, for example, we had 2 boys, I would be very happy and wouldn't necessarily need to try for a 3rd baby in hopes of a girl. If, on the other hand, we had 2 girls I would definitely want to try for a 3rd /4th/maybe even 5th(lol) baby in hopes of a boy. But, I was never opposed to having a daughter I now that I have one, I can't imagine life without her! But, I TOTALLY understand where you are coming from when it comes to wanting a son!!

maimai - That's the way I feel. If my first were a son, I don't think I would have cared so much about the next baby's gender. At least I would have my boy. Also if I had 2 sons I wouldn't be desperate to try for the girl. But, with 2 daughters now, I really want that boy and I almost want a guarantee. We are not in the position to keep trying. I also don't think I want more than 3 kids either. That's why I am really considering HT.

I am in the same boat! It is me that desperately wants a son....don't get me wrong, my husband would love a son too, but he has told me that his ideal family has always been 2 children, regardless of gender. But, he knows how much I want a son, so he is totally ok with us trying for baby # 3 if our next is another little girl. But, I think our limit will be 4 children though.

Blue dust to all of us wanting boys!Hearts

GIFV is in Virginia, correct? I am in the NY area so I will need to find someone in NY. There are a couple that are good. Talk about money...the NY clinics are so much more expensive than any other in the country. It really stinks! I have great credit but I am not sure if I want to take a loan out for that much money. I would love it if I got pregnant on the first try but no one can guarantee that. I see some posts where women go for 3 or 4 cycles. That is a lot of money!! But I really don't want to try again unless I am guaranteed a boy. I am in my mid 30s also and I got pregnant twice on the first try. So don't worry about age too much. I am sure you won't have a problem. That's funny you mentioned twins b/c I don't mind having twin boys. 2 girls and 2 boys is ideal :) I know a lot of people personally that haven't swayed and have a mixed-gender family. So I believe it is really 50/50. I did some swaying with the 2nd pregnancy and was on the boy diet and did timing and still got a girl. I know so many people that don't eat meats, potassium or salts and they get boys so I don't believe that it really works. It's pure luck if you ask me. And since I am in my mid 30s I can't afford to try for months and months on a sway. I always hear sways take time...sometimes almost a year. I will check out the HT board thanks!

Yes GIVF is in VA...I live in Maryland though (suburbs of DC, close to VA). GIVF is the closest clinic I know of that does GS. There are ladies on the HT board that are in NY and you could ask them what clinics they have used! It IS a lot of money and you never know how many tries it will take. If I had good credit I wouldn't think twice about taking out a loan for IVF! My credit sucks and I'm broke right now so HT is sort of a dream for me at the moment, more than a reality. I will probably try naturally for #4 and meanwhile I am going to try to clean up my credit and make some money so that if #4 is another boy I can try HT for one last shot at a girl.

GL and please let me know what you end up doing!! :)

I wouldn't say I never wanted a daughter. In my case it's I never wanted four, but it looks like the last one is going to be a girl too. I wish I had a boy or that I end up posting "was told girl but baby came out boy" in a couple months... This is my fourth c-section and last child so it is really hard knowing we will never have our son. I know my husband acts excited for another girl, but I know deep down he is just as sad as me.  They are ours and that's the chance we took having babies.

I'm not disappointed in having daughters at all, I'm disappointed that my husband is done having kids and I can't have my baby boy, that's why I had GD with my last one, because it was our last. If hubby were open to have as many kids as God gives us then I wouldn't even thought about GD. I've always wanted girls and boys to raise, I always wanted a big family 4 or 5 kids, even more.
