techs please!

When is the best time to get an early gender ultrasound? My hubby is going to be deploying so we'd like to find out when we're still able to find out together, which is just shy of 16 weeks. Is that too early to get an accurate guess?

If you go to a trained and licensed sonographer (ARDMS certified is what you want) then they should be able to accurately tell you the gender if baby is cooperative.

 Thank you lovemy4. The place I was going to go to does gender ultrasounds at 14 weeks but I thought that seemed a little too early so I figured I would book closer to 16 weeks. I will check to make sure they are ARDMS certified.

The place I went to will do gender scans from 14 weeks, and say with 99% accuracy. I thought that seemed really early to be putting that % on it, but I went at 14w5d and she tole me within 5 seconds what the gender definitely was. It was really clear. I think it all depends on the tech, the machine and of course the baby....one that cooperates helps ! I think if you go to a reputable place, and leave it as long as you can before dh goes, it should be fairly accurate! Gl !

 yeah the place I am going to has ARDMS certified techs and says they can tell at 14 weeks with 99% accuracy as well! I am going to try to push it as close to 16 weeks as I can. I had a scan today in my drs office, and baby's head is measuring a week ahead, and legs are measuring 4 or 5 days ahead. So I very well may be 13 weeks already which will put me at close to 17 weeks when I have the scan. I do have another in-office scan in 2 weeks, so we might be able to find out then. I'm so excited.

BTW, threewillys, I can't believe you are already 31 weeks! wow. Time travels.
