Hi ladies I decided to get off the pill in January because for two reasons: one being that I felt it was affecting my mood changes severely and my sex drive (or lack of) and two I know that at some point this year I would like to ttc a son (I have two daughters). Well I havent gotten my period yet siince being off. when I went to conceive my first daughter and I got off the pill, it took about 2 months. I began doing my research online and found that some have taken herb supplements to jump start their period (dong quai, vitex, etc). Has anyone taken any of these? What were your experiences? I am just anxious to get my body back to normal to start ttc a boy. Do any of these affect boy sways? Any insight would be great.... Thanks so much

I went off the pill in December and it took me 7 weeks to get a period.  Then I had a typical 32 day cycle with ovulation on days 17 & 18 and this cycle, I went 36 days and no ovulation.  I went to the doctor and he told me it can take some time to get back on schedule, though the fact that I didn't detect ovulation is not that typical.  I went for an FSH test on day 3 of my period to see if I have high levels which could indicate a poor egg reserve.  My point is that I know it can take some time for your body to readjust after going off hormones.

Hi there Happy Speaking from my experience back in 2009, before the birth of my first Baby Bear Boy, it took me 9 months to establish a 'normal' cycle of about 35 days long, as they were ranging from 70-90 days! It was only after taking 1,500mg Vitex a day from AF - O day that sorted it all out for me, and I was pregnant the second month of having a 35 day cycle from using it - great stuff! Some pills have been known to affect women in this way, taking time to return to normality, and I was just 21 at the time so age wasn't even a factor. The Vitex didn't give me any side-effects personally, I think you have to start taking it to be able to decide whether or not it's right for you.

I honestly don't know quite how much Vitex is said to 'sway' but I can tell you that taking it resulted in my first Baby Bear Boy- Best of luck! x
