Another boy!

Ok so I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed, but not in the baby. I'm disappointed because my husband and i had our first son in 2010, both of our families are mostly boys. Our son was the first granchild on his side and the third on mine. We arw now pregnant with baby #2 due Sept. 1 and expecting another boy. His sister recently had her 1st baby, baby girl, and is spoiled way more than our son because she is a girl. I really wanted a girl as my oldest sister has 2 boys already and is pregnant with her third, oddly enough I am due 2 weeks before her. But again her children get more attention than my son because shes the oldest and had the first grandchild. So i guess.the point of this oost is to vent because in a way, yes i am jealous. And am curious to see what my sister is having which i habe a hut feeling is a girl, with my luck...

 Congrats on a boy!  I know, it makes it harder when somebody else has a girl.  My sil has a girl and dh and I have two boys and people keep saying stuff like "Oh there is finally a girl in the family" and acting like it's amazing when really, any child is a blessing. From your post it sounds like this boy will be your second.  I have two boys and it is awesome.  I'd actually rather have that than a pp family.

I know exactly how you feel having 3 boys myself, after my 2ds was born i was ok because i thought 'hes got a older brother to play with to keep each other company' and i always wanted 3 children 2 boys and a girl so when i got pregnant again i instantly thought it was a girl as most of my family are girls my mum only had 2 girls so i thought the odds where on my side, how wrong was i!! I went for my gender scan and when the tech said boy i instantly felt gd i felt guilty but couldnt hide it, I finally got over it before baby was born and now hes nearly 1 & all my boys are the best of friends they get on brilliant and now im pregnant again and dont mind another boy!! How strange lol I just hope once your son is here you will understand what i mean and hopefully you will get your girl soon, My SIL just had a baby girl and dh mum doesnt bother much with my boys but its her who will miss out in the end. You will so quickly fall in love with not only this baby but also the brotherly bond. My boys love each other.

Thanks everyone. I know I'm going to love this baby just as much and I thought of how many good pros this has IE: themes of the room as they will be sharing, when theyre older they can do the same activities instead of going nuts trying to make it to say karate amd ballet, the closeness in age, and I'm super excited because I saved EVERYTHING from our first son which takes a big load of my shoulders, i just couldnt help the sound of disappointment in my moms voice when we told her we were having another boy. It was literally just a one word answer "oh" and as much as she says it doesn't matter i know it does and as much as she says she treats them all the same, she doesn't and it bothers me because I grew up being the shadow and don't want my kids to feel that towards their family but at the same time I say to myself " they don't need anybody else but mom and dad."

Congrats on a new sweet baby boy.  I am very excited over my second son.  I know I have a dd also but I am a boy mamma at heart.

 Let me say that sometimes favorates will be played no matter the sex of the child.  My in-laws favor there daughters children 100% even though we are the ones with the only grandaughter  (not that I would like for my dd to be favored because of this,I dont think either sex should be favored) but I hate to see the hurt feelings in my husbands eyes every time his kids passed over.   This makes me very mad at them but I have learned to try to keep it in.

As you said my kids just need there mommy and daddy and eachother.  Nobody else.

Thank you, i appreciate everyones opinion and the fact that no one is criticizing because some people dont understand how I feel, and need to understand that in way am I going to treat my son any differently because hes not a girl. I just want a healthy baby boy or girl and hopefully in the future ill get my little girl.

Just wanted to say that you are not alone.  When I told everyone that we were expecting a second boy - I go the "oh" comments.  My in laws even planned a trip for three months during the time that I was due - so they wouldn't have met my son (their LAST grandchild) until he was three months old.  Noone said congrats - no one said anything at all.  People are weird sometimes and unless they know what GD is - they just say the stupidest things.  Enjoy your boys and yes keep thinking of all the positives and ignore the negatives.

Thank you. My son gets the silent treatment from everyone. I don't understand it at all, how can you favor a child, but I learn from them what not to do with my sons. All my children WILL be treated equally!

Congrats on your boy. From personal experience my first 2 sons have a great relationship, and now I am pregnant with no.4, if it is a boy, it will be great as my no. 3 with have a brother and hopefully share the same bond as my 1st 2. What I really dont get and hear a lot of on this forum is how families can be so insensitive. You can expect is from strangers, but family I just cannot comprehend.

I don't understand it either and its funny you say that because I tell my husband all the time thats its sad strangers treat our son better our family.
