Non-judgmental question. Just curious...

I see so many people on here with one gender that say they can't have any more babies. I'm curious as to why? My husband and I are struggling financially but we still want a large family, children are more important to us then a lot of other things we could spend money on. So what are the reasons? Money? Age? Medical problems? Space? (which yes is a bit of an issue with us until we get enough money to build a bigger house.) We know we have to take a break after this baby until my husband gets established in a career. He is in his last year of college right now. But we do intend on having more. So anyway...I'm just curious.

For me, I'd love another baby. 4 sounds like a great number of children to have. But DH is not keen. He thinks 3 is enough. Right now all the kids have their own rooms but we'd have to double up if we had another. And DH works on an oil rig so is away for 2 weeks at a go and he thinks that 4 would be too much for me to cope with on my own (doesn't seem to matter that I don't think that!)

The only thing that holds me back is that I am nearly 39. My last pregnancy really took it out of me and I struggled towards the end. Also there are all the extra risks with being an older mother.

no more room  in my minivan, no more room  in my house. money is a big one. do you have any idea how much it costs to feed a family of 7? then the laundry and the power and all the other bills go up up up. plus i think im  spread too thin now. dh and i never get a moment alone much less one on one time with each of the girls. it really sucks when you have to say wear your holey shoes for another month hun because i have to buy diapers for 2 babies. so yes even though i would love a boy it probably won't happen.

Five is my limit. For one we have no more room in our house, vehicle and financially. I'm going to work part time just to make sure we have enough to cover our needs. I love having a large family and it has been a blessingbut I also feel that I have everyone that I was suppose to have

No I totally understand it when you have 5+ kids. I guess I was referring more so to people who have 2 or 3 and say they can't have more.

i asked my brother the same question he has 1 son. but he and his wife both work full time so they aren't intrested in having anymore. which i thought would make my nephew lonely but now that hes in school he has alot of friend plus there is always extra money for sports and things like that. it works for them  and thats fine. plus he won't ever have to decide between new shoes or diapers.

I don't know if I count, while DH and I only have 2 together (well, officially two in February); he has 3 boys from a previous. So, for us, it's financially strapping to have 2 in highschool (and college soon follows) and 2 just starting out and one in the middle. He's done; I feel like I have one more in me, but I would never leave him to have it. Plus he's a smidge older (don't tell him i said so, he always gets bummed...LOL) and I think that age plays a big factor for him.

I think it's become the norm to have two kids nowadays. When we told people I was pregnant again they kept saying "you're crazy! Three kids, wow!" And I was like why is three crazy? To me that's more normal. They can't even understand why we would possibly go for four. I think society has made everything for a family of four so it's "normal" and easier to have two kids.

Agreeyes plus if you ever go out to eat its hard to get a table to seat everyone. booths are impossiable but i like them  cause i can trap the toddler against the wall. and hotels charge you more or make you pay for a suite because of the fire codes.

Our family doctor keeps asking when is DH going to get a vasectomy! Lol. Short answer: HE'S NOT! I always get the "your crazy" comments. But then Once in a while (Tuesday) I get comments like "you have a beautiful family" in fact, the other day in costco a man with 11 children told me not to stop at 3...or 5. Because they split up and gang up on ech other. He then said 6 is a good number. He was really happy to hear I was expecting again! So yes, 2 is for sure the norm.

So agree with this one! Everything is designed for families of 4- if you go to a museum or event around here, a family ticket is 2 adults, 2 kids. Same with a family room in a hotel.

When I told people I was having my third, you would have thought I announced that this was my 10th- so many people said '3 kids, WOW, that's going to be so much work'. Like having only 2 is a walk in the park....

We are Catholics though, and my oldest goes to a Catholic school and there are quite a few families there with 3 or 4 children and there are 2 families with 6 and 1 with 7 children. In my son's class of 30 children, 13 of his classmates are one of 3 or more children.

I have both genders but cant have anymore babies because my last pregnancy almost killed me! I had severe pre eclampsia and HELLP and both the OBs who did the emergency c section suggested I get my tubes tied and not risk another pregnancy like I had with my daughter. It was that bad.

In my case, age - 35, previous difficult pregnancy, no family support, no help from DH, both of us HAVE to work to keep the family going financially, family of 4 is the norm - people including parents freak out at the idea of 3 kids coz they think I will have a tough time managing 3 kids with a full time job and 2 kids
