Progress Update- for all Nov due babies!

Ariel, your all set and ready to go, :) hope you get your vbac! I've been having some pain recently, not fun. It's hard mentally to be patient as I should be.. Tickle hope baby isnt posterior anymore! I finally found some wraps that i love! Brought them on line can't wait to wrap him up now!!! I think it's time for a birth or two, wonder who's going to be next!

Jules... i cant wait till these bubs are born! see some piccies! awwww....

My midwife refused to check me.... so i'm kinda left hanging... but the baby's head is 3/5ths decended and fixed into place.... not going anywhere!.... she said the spine is on the left side, which is good, because the baby should naturally turn anterior during labour... woot woot!... I ahve to get a bloodtest done... she's worried about the diarhoea i've been having... she said from her experience women get it as they are about to start labour... they don't get it repeatedly for weeks and weeks before hand... so she said it may need further investigation.... she also wants my iron levels checked again, so she's doing a full blood count.

DS2.... being a shit... screaming at me as i type... so I'm going.

I can't believe we are so close to meeting our little one's!!!  So excited to see everyone's pics and hear birth stories

I am in desperate need of more patience as I am finding myself getting so anxious to meet this little one already, and I would love if I could just relax and enjoy the end of my pregnancy...any tips ladies?

make time to go to the movies on your own... schedule daily naps... eat labour cookies... lol... i'm going out to get the ingredients today! and swim... take baths. My midwife gave me a book yesterday about managing painnaturally durign labour... using your legs and breathing exercises. i thought "what a load of shit"... but in theory it sounds pretty good. so if I have a longer then expected labour this time... i might use some of the methods in it.

(Says to walk/pace during a contraction... and rest when you aren't having one... and then when your contractions increase intesity...  you increase the intensity of what you do with your legs.... so when you are closing in on transitional stage, you start stomping... it's meant to naturally redirect your thought processes of the pain... because another part of your body is being stimulated.... how interesting is that! I guess it's like when a sibbling falls over and is crying... and you punch them in the arm and they start crying about that... lol... and you say... "well I fixed your sore knee!".... me and my brothers were pretty rough growing up :P)

 

Eight days to go:-( Getting impatient by the day. What is wrong with me!!! It's just eight days! I'm glad you girls are doing things to get ready. I am running around like a mad woman, trying to finish up chores. Which wraps did you buy? I bought Aiden and anais, and I was also give their dream blanket. Can't wait to wrap him up in those either.

Ariel, can't believe I'm so excited about my wraps.lol. There muslin cloth white and then I have ones with beautiful red stars and one with beautiful blue stars!, I do remember seeing the aiden and anis on line somewhere though, Think of it this way, one day down and one less to go! We are close girls! Ekkkk birth stories :) Tickle makes sense to me the whole going with it thing, I did that a bit,paced through contractions and then all of a sudden I wanted on the bed and that's where I stayed, because it got to damn painful and I thought delivery wasn't far! 4 hard long hours later she was born! Stomps feet! I'm contrating tonight mmmmm most likely the pissy Braxton hicks..painful but a bit irregular 8- 14 minutes, Mywidwife appointment went great! Loved her, I hope I get her in the labour ward! Im measuring 40 weeks. Blood pressure was good. We are 2/5 engaged...vertex....I'm good to go I'm sorry if I missed someone and im sure I did, it's my vagueness, can't think! Well, you gotta be excited about something:-) I know it's just things, but they are important. Like, I splurged and bought a Didymos wrap sling. I can't wait to wear Sammy in it. I had a t-shirt fabric wrap with my DD, and she lived in it for 4 months. This time around I decided to splurge and got a nice thing. We were at a baby show and I couldn't resist. The girl gave me 20% off. Most of Sammy's clothes, well, pretty much all of them, are used, so it's nice to get something nice and new. Jules, it's nice to know where you are at. I have no idea. Since I have a scheduled delivery they are not too worried about engagement and measurements. I have my weekly appointment today and a pre-op appointment after it. I have absolutely no symptoms of labour or prelabour and in some ways it would be interesting to see how far along I would carry if we hadn't settled for a 38 week and 2 days delivery. The way this baby is, I would guess I'd probably go overdue. But, I can't wait any more. Waiting another week is bad enough. I want him out, NOW. The impatience level is hitting me really bad. I'm 10 weeks more pregnant than I have ever been and it's a new place for me to be. With my two previous pregnancies I was praying not to deliver early, now I can't wait to deliver. We are never happy, are we?

Yeah.... so i haven't had a thrilling week...

my perineum feels bruised... boo.... then i get told i have to ahve a blood test to check my iron.... Hb is 94... (pretty low)... and so now I've jsut come back from the hospital after ANOTHER bloodtest... they are doing iron studies.

So much for going with a private midwife.... she's now refered me on to the hospital Dr's.... so I ahve to see the consultant on monday, because of the low hb... and she says i'm going to have to be a little closer monitored... in which I believe that means.... no homebirth for me.

BECAUSE... my Hb is bordering critically low... when my patients  (in surgical) go low... they get transfused.... if they are in the 90's pre-operation... we tranfuse to avoid them from getting too low during surgery or post-op (obviously they lose alot more blood in theatre then i would in a typical labour).... but in the case of haemorhage (which I haven't got a history of)... I could potentially bleed out quite fast, and at home... I wouldn't cope. I hate knowing too much. it's got me worried. I HONESTLY feel fine though... a little tired... moments of shortness of breath... but otherwise no faintness. BP is ok this week... we are up to 120/70... the highest it's been this pregnancy.

I'm taking 20mg elemental iron... plus the 10mg which is already in my multi... so 30mg elemental iron.... pregnant women are recommended to have 27mg.... including diet.

I'm so annoyed.

I'm sure i'll be fine... and if I wasn't refered on to this consultant... i wouldn't be so worried... like I wouldn't be over thinking things so much. IYKWIM????

Otherwise... 3/5ths engaged (on monday) and bubs with posterior left... but I'm sure in the past couple of days bubs has moved lower, and turned anterior.

BAHAHA.... what morons!... so I get yet ANOTHER phone call... saying that I need to take iron supplements because my Hb is "extremely low"... and so i rang them back (as they left a voice msg)... and told them what I am taking. then he tells me that the blood tests are from the 25th....  and I said to him (BTW it's 98 not 94).... well i had another blood test today for iron studies... and he's like... OH... ah... oh ok... well i think we may need to get you up here so we cancheck you out... and I said.... well i have already got an appointment with the consultant for monday morning... and he laughs... and says oh well I guess I will see you then and we can check today's results then. OMG... fruitloop! lol

Tickle - I had low Hb with all mine. Last time was 103 and m/w had to advise against home birth as she said I was at more risk of bleeding. I contested this fiercely as I knew I was at no more risk of bleeding (normal platelets) but knew if I did bleed I would be more at risk. I took spatone (not sure if you get that over there) which is a liquid iron supplement that you put in juice and is apparently more easily absorbed than iron in tablets and diet. It worked enough to raise my hb to 108 (cut off for normal was 105). I knew it was more likely a dilutional anaemia due to more circulating volume as my MCV was normal. My tips to you, take iron with OJ, don't have a cup of tea 2 hours either side of iron supps, as tannin in tea blocks absorption. I am anaemic again, but this time 106. I am taking ferrous fumerate as well as spatone, and iron in my prenatal vitamins, plus trying to eat a good amount of iron in my diet. Good luck.

Had an ob appointment today, am 3 cm, bulging membranes and she stripped my membranes.  Sure hoping this gets something started!

nicnee... i dont drink tea or coffee... infact almost all the iron strippers on the list they gave me, i don't really have. and I have been having my supplements with orange juice to help with absorption... i didn't know you could get liquid iron. will have to look into that.

Did you get SOB (short of breath) with it? At night time in particular, I struggle to breath.

Lol, I am a nurse too, so I totally get your abbreviations!! I do get SOB, but not at night so much. More when I am on my feet for a while. Could be the fact that baby is really high up now, right under my sternum. I have been getting horrible rib pain at night. Not sure if it is indigestion related or my rib cage expanding. TBH I have fewer symptoms of anaemia this time, but I hope that means my Hb is better since I have been dutifully taking my iron supps this time!!

arg.... up and down for most of the night with what i thought was "contractions".... tummy rock hard, needing to poo (but no poo)... achy back and a bit of lower abdo crampyness. they weren't regular or anything. no increase in CM.... and this morning.... NOTHING.

I hate this last part of pregnancy. I was on such a high last night... and getting excited.... then i started those "annoyances"... and it dwindled to nothing.... I even had that thought in my head... yep I'm ready to do this.

Now I'm just pissed off. Feels like I wont know when it is time.

(It's 5.30am here... and I look out the window to see a slim girl jogging, and a cyclist on the road.... and I'm thinking... I want to go jogging.... I want to be thin).... I think I'm cranky as well because i didn't get alot of sleep last night as a result of the pains.
