Pregnant With Twins ???????

Yes, I decided to use my leftover gonal f for one IUI cycle.  This time I didn't do any gender selection.  I thought I would be lucky to even get pregnant, seeing I will be 40 next month.  I am in shock, yesterday the ultrasound showed two fetus in 2 yolk sacs with good heartbeats.  I am almost 8 weeks pregnant.  I was really just hoping for one baby, and I have been super sick vomiting and stomach aches.   I am scared to be pregnant with twins.  Any advice or suggestions?  I have 3 boys, and have had 3 csections.  My youngest son is 7 years old. 

The doctor did say that one of the yolk sacs was a bit smaller than the other, but that both fetus's were the same size.  Any thoughts?  What is the likelihood of vanishing twin??

At 8 wks, chances are improving daily that you will deliver twins. I forget the stats, but it is likely over 80%likely you will take home two babies now by 8wks.

My twin B was smaller from the start as well. It can be related to one egg fertilizing a day or two later than the other, or just having a bit smaller sac on one.

THat 7 years difference is not a bad thing for your uterus--it hopefully has had a nice long time to heal, so fingers crossed. Lots of mamas have had a few sections, and gone on to have twins. It may mean bed rest a little earlier for you, but maybe not!

Try not to be scared Wendelyn - I know how trite that sounds. I also know that is easy for me to say. From what I've seen on the boards morning sickness will be amplified but it will pass.  I even spoke with a new twin mommy recently who said she is so happy now that her babies are here she hardly remembers the morning sickness.  Congratulations on your pregnancy and try not to stress. Women are inordinately strong.....especially when the pressure gets turned up. You will do fabulously I'm sure.

Well, I had some really good follies this time around, and my dh's sperm didn't go through the microsort process.  When I did my IVF cycle, I used frozen MS sperm, which may or may not have been a good idea.  Out of 12 mature eggs, only 2 fertilized and I did not get pregnant.  Who knows, the lab could have even made a mistake.

WOW! Congratulations, Wendelyn!!! That's wonderful (albeit scary!)  My 6w u/s showed a twin, although the doctor wasn't 100% sure. By the 8w u/s, if it was a twin, it was gone. I'm not sure at what point they vanish.
