Went to my doctor today for an ultrasound and visit with the doc. Baby is measuring at approx 5 1/2 lbs and looks great. My placenta is still low lying and right of the edge of my cervix and has been this way for weeks now (it use to be covering the cervix). My doc said that the with my placenta being so low that the we would most likely be unable to do a trial of labor due to the risk of bleeding, but that there was still some "hope" that the placenta could move. I then asked if we were to go the c-section route what the earliest date is we could schedule it. She said generally she likes to go to 39 weeks, but I asked if it were possible to go sooner...I told her about my anxiety of a cord accident happening (my aunt lost a perfectly healthy baby at 39 weeks due to a cord accident, as did a girl I use to work with). She said she understood my anxiety and considered full term to be 37 weeks and would be perfectly fine with doing a c-section then (the first week of May!!). I asked what day she normally schedulel csections during the week and she said "Wednesdays".......well, the first Wed in May is MY birthday...I told her that would be the best birthday present ever. She said that while Weds are her typical c-section days, that she woud be willing to schedule it for any day that I wanted the first week in May (surgery is at 7AM). She also said that if I was still interested in pursing the possiblity of the VBAC route that I could schedule an appt with the sonographer the Friday before May 2nd (which would be April 29th) to see if the placenta had in fact moved....if it had not, then we could proceed with the Mon c-section as planned, if it had, then she would be willing to try and help naturally induce labor (stripping membranes/foley catheter). Wow...I cannot believe that I am soooooooooooooooooo close to having my baby girl!!!!!!!! I am so excited!!
