Even a 9-year old gets it...

I was babysitting a family of three girls tonight (the girls are 9, 5, & 1) and the 9yo asked me if I know what I'm having.  I said no, that baby's a surprise.  She said, "Well, I hope you have a girl."  I said, "Oh, well, why is that?"  "Because you already have two boys," she responded.  So, then, I asked her if she'd hoped that her 1yo sister would be a boy and she said yes, that she'd wanted a brother because she'd already gotten a sister.  She said - wouldn't it be nice to have some of each in our families?  YES!  EVEN A 9YO LITTLE GIRL GETS IT!!!

Of course, I played it off and said that a girl would be nice, but a boy would also be nice, and a healthy baby was really what mattered. 

I don't envy their mom, either, as she only has girls.  I only envy those with some of each.  Sighhhhhhh...

I always wished I could feel that way...the one who wants one of each. But even now, I envy moms of little boys, but never really feel anything towards the ones who have one of each because I always felt sorry they had to have a girl, lol, which trust me I know sounds so silly because I know I'm the minority wantin only a one gender family and especially of all boys....but I wished that I could have had 3 boys, so badly, now we are having another girl and I'm dealing with it pretty well I think and trying really hard to see the positives of it!

I'm glad you found someone who "gets" it, LOL even if it is a 9 year old girl!!! Kids insights into life are sure suprising sometimes isn't it?
