Confused Huh? SOOO.... All day I have had the feeling that my belly was higher today than it has been, thinking maybe bub had disengaged a bit.

THEN..... I had a shower a couple of hours ago, when I got out and was getting dressed I suddenly felt the STRANGEST sensation, kind of like bub did a somersault in my stomach. Since then, his movements all fell completely different, and all the area above my pubic bone that was so hard and bulging before is now all soft! WHAT THE??!! I have been getting contractions stopping and starting for days, intense pressure down low, really thought I was due to go very soon, I actually planned to beg the MW at my appointment tommorrow to have a go at a stretch and sweep and reallly thought that would probably be it. Now I get the distinct feeling Im going to go in tommorrow and be told I now have a breech baby!!! I am SOOO scared of a CS - I will die if that is what has happened!!

Any ideas anyone? Is this even possible at 39 weeks? And if it has happened, am I doomed to a CS birth or is there something I can do??? I WANT TO CRY!!!!! NOOOO chance of sleep tonite[:'(]

Hello, I don't know about the baby flipping. I have never had that problem!! I just wanted to give you some reasurance that IF the baby is breeched that a CS is not that bad. I had a suprise CS too and I was so upset and scared! But I heard my baby cry, got to see him and started breastfeeding as soon as i was in recovery. I really didn't have any pain and I was walking around that night. I really had a good experince with it. Everyone is different and everyones situation is different. I just wanted to let you know if it was to happened that don't be to sad about it, you will have a beautiful baby eiher way.

I don't know if the baby flipped, I have heard that it is very painful when they flip that late. I hope you hear the baby is head down!! Best of Luck!!!

Hi guys thanks for the replies!!

Well turns out bub is still head down, the MW said he is higher than he was, shes inclined to think maybe what I felt was bub disengaging and repositioning, she said sometimes they dont engage in the most favorable way and maybe thats why I have been getting lots of false labor feelings, but apparently he is still down there and she hopes maybe this time he will settle in better and I will progress. She was a really lovely MW, I explained about all the stopping and starting contractions etc that Ive been getting and she told me to come in tonite if nothing has happened yet and she will do a stretch and sweep, she couldnt do it straight away as all the labor rooms were full. I had a few really good strong contractions last nite that woke me up, but still nothing has progressed this morning so hoping she will do the trick tonite!!

Thanks again for the reassuring posts, you were right to say that I would still get bub either way, women have CS's every day successfully, I think I was just scared because its the oppoiste to what Ive expected after having two easy VB's previously. LJSLADY - you sound like a dream patient!! I have 2 freinds that had CS the same day last month, one was out and about 2 days later, and back in her old jeans already, the other is still home bound and struggling now, I think its a bit like a vaginal birth I guess, some cope better than others or have a better experience. Either way, both those girls have their babies in arms now so Im sure they would both do it again in a heartbeat!! I guess for me its just the fear of the unknown. But looks like I should be right anyway. Hope all you girls are doing well!!!

That is wonderful that the baby is head down. Hopefully the baby has engaged better like you said. I know its scary not knowing but I am so glad that it looks like a vaginal birth. Hopefully your LO will be out soon. Prayer for you guys!!!

i had n undiognosed breech baby. i got to 10cm's pushing him out when it was his bottom not his head. i had to have a meeting with the main midwives after as i had immense pain in my back for 24 hours before labour which is when i thought my baby had turned breech. i thought this because my bump had changed shape completly. but i was told it is very unlikey that a baby can go breech after being head down so late in pregnancy.wheras it is likely the other way round that a baby can turn head down at the last minute after being breech.

good luckxx

Wow!! Did they palp your belly when you were worried or anything?? Were you able to deliver vaginally?

I have had 3 goes at labour in last few days - good strong painful contractions that lasted for numerous hours, (and IMMENSE back pain which I didnt have with other labors) yesterday they even got down to 3 mins apart - then each time they stop again. Yesterday morning they decided to induce me and get it over with, admitted me, arm bracelet and all (lol) only to discover bub has disengaged and decided rupturing membranes would be too dangerous, than I contracted all afternoon, (thats when they got to 3mins) went back up to hospital, admitted again, then all stopped, so home again!! They are saying its because of bubs presentation, each MW and Doc that examines palps for ages before saying "Im pretty sure hes head down, but face up". I am starting to wonder if I should demand an US to be sure hes not undiagnosed breech, I am only thin so they should be able to tell easier - and something def isnt right judging by all this stop start labor. They keep assuring me I will eventually spontaneously labor succesfully and bub will turn as I go, although they will talk about induction again at my next app tuesday if I havent by then. The whole thing is seriously wierd - I thought 3rd time I would know how it goes!! Does any of that sound like your scenario was imhere?Confused Huh?

they palpated mybelly lots of times by lots of different midwives but not 1 of them picked up on it. they said my baby must of been breech for awhile as his bottom etc was all bruised. they said they misdiognosed it because he was all tooked up and his bottom was 3/5 engaged.

well my waters broke but then nothing else happened. had a pesary then contractions started got them down to 3 mins apart and was 3/4cm dilated then everything stopped but thats when i had that immense back pain. so im unsure whether that was labour pain but in my back.

i would ask for an ultrasound as they are saying im pretty sure but they arn't definet about it. the main midwife who palpated my stomach while i was in the later stage of labour she said my baby was spine to spine how wrong was she.

hope all goes well at ur appointment.xx
