 Hi fellow moms,

I am in need of any and all suggestions on how to stay well.  It seems that since our eldest started school, the first one to begin school, we have had one bug after another.  We are pretty healthy and extremely health eaters, and our children take vitamins, etc.  I have particularly been susceptible and am now almost worse off than our kids.  I have a horrible cold, sore throat, diarrhea, and swollen painful nodes all along my jaw.  My face is puffy and I feel like a trainwreck. This also brings up questions about ttc with young children in school.  I'd be so worried if I was pg right now and not sure if/when we'll ever fit it in.

I'm just looking for some assurance that others have been through this.  Is it pretty common for kids to get sick this much once starting school?  Is it just as common for moms to as well?

Thanks:)

yes,  my kids are all sick right now too.  When they first started daycare it seemed like they were introduced to a whole new world of germs. :(  hang in there, tis the season.  Have you went to the Dr?  Sounds like yours is a bit more serious then the typical head cold?

This is my eldest's first year at school it isn't so bad because he went to preschool for the two years before so has already built up immunity and so have we to allot of things  but i am still noticing allot of bugs coming home like gastro etc , i think over time you will build up a better immunity so wont catch things so often but being a school with hundreds of kids with who knows what your bound to catch a fair few things every year

one thing Ive done is Ive gotten way more hygienic for myself when ever they are sick i wash my hands doctor style so i wash up to my elbow for 2 minutes in hot water after having to touch them or things that have been thrown up  on etc i have anti bacterial household cleaners  , i never used to worry so much about germs and i didn't want to be over clean because sometimes that can make things worse when you eventually do catch something  but with 2 children and one on the way i cant afford to get sick so i pretty much do everything in my power to not catch it so i can look after them when they do ,,, another thing i find useful is when they do catch something go on the net find out what it could be and the ways its spread that way you know how to avoid it better also find out its incubation period so you no when they are contagious and when you would be likely to start showing symptoms should you have it so you can avoid others like your husband or other children

since Ive been doing that i have managed to miss 2 out of the last 3  hope that helps

Yes, I've been to the doctor and it's the usual, upper resp. inf. diagnosis without much of a solution.  Since it's viral, no rx for antibiotics.  I just always get unnerved by lymph nodes, but I guess if they're there with an infection, they're bound to get more pronounced.

Thanks for all the suggestions!!
