Interesting article. I have also read that women with cycles which are 28-29.5 days long are more in sync with the moon and generally the most fertile. There was a study done and the selected women had cycles which were 28-29.5 days. Approximately 70% of those women had their onset of menses within 7 days of the full moon. I guess when you're on a regular schedule you are more likely to get pregnant.

I believe this theory to be true for me too, my cycle is every 28-29 days and I never have had a problem. I can't even slip up on  an "oops" day if I'm in my window. Also my cycle continues to regulate itself even after pregnancies, miscarriages, etc. All my conceptions have occured in the middle of the month. All my pregnancies have been due at the very beginning of the month. I started my period at age 13 on December 8th, 1998, after my delivery October 30th of this year, my period came back on December 9th. Coincidence or regulated?

Thanks! I just upped my B6 this cycle to 100mg a day from 50mg a day. I took 50mg a day last cycle and saw no improvement in my (sadly) 8 day LP. I Oed on cd 21 and got af on cd 29. Hoping the B6 helps this go round!

I have been researching b6  all day today.  Here is what I found.  You can take b6 in the tww.  It helps with progesterone.  You take 50mg of b6 up to O then switch to 100-200mg during the tww.  However, be careful with 100 or more because b6 can have a side effect of making your hands and feet numb (which is reversible once you stop taking it).  If you get a bfp while taking b6 DON'T STOP IT!  You need to gradually decrease it because if you don't it can cause a mc.  It is safe to take but you can't suddenly stop it when you get a bfp.  So if your taking 200mg of b6 and get a bfp you would cut down to 150 mg for a week, then 100mg for a week then 50 mg for a week then 25 for a week then stop.

I wonder if it might help sway for a girl, since it seems to help with progesterone?   I can't remember for sure but I seem to remember reading somewhere that low progesterone leans more towards boys and high progesterone leans more towards girls.... am I dreaming this?!  Either way, it's great to know that it seems to really help with LPD...

Here's a question...

i have always been told that if you take B6 you will have to take B complex to balance things out or your B's will be off....anyone else heard this.  I think this is why I have not tried B6 yet to legnthen my phase...too many freaking pills...LOL...and makes your pee a weird color....Happy ROFL

progesterone does favor girls when it is in the dw

here is more info i found...

Ok b6...

Originally we thought b6 was just to lengthen luteal phase.  But I researched this a lot this weekend.

First of b6 does not effect pH.  However it does effect progesterone (progesterone favors girls).  Now some people who have really long cycles (38 days or more) tend to have a b6 deficiency.  There are some great studies showing that these women take 25mg to 50mg of b6 a day from af to 0 have a normal cycle (less than 38 days).  But for ttc a boy I would suggest the smallest amount because it would favor girls in that it helps with progesterone.

Next, women have been taking b6 50mg a day from af-af to help with luteal phase- to make it longer than 10 days.  This is still true

Next, I found some info that says you can start b6 at 0 to af and it will help your progesterone and temps be high which can help with implantation.  If you don't take b6 till O it will not sway toward girls.  You would take 100-200mg of b6 from 0 to af but if you get a bfp you can't stop it cold turkey.  You need to slowly get off of it.

B6 does have some side effects:

100-300mg can cause tingly hands and fingers and maybe drowsiness.  These are reversed when you stop taking b6.

Stop taking b6 when you get a bfp can increase your risk of mc because it causes a sudden drop of progesterone.  It is best to lower it slowly.

Taking it before O favors girls because it causes a rise in progesterone

this is true.  You need to take folic acid when taking b6.  And you should also take vitamen b12.  I have a folic acid b12 combo and a seperate b6 pill.  I didn't mention this because you should already be taking folic acid and b12 to prevent mc and birth defects.  fa and b12 does not sway

I found a few articles on the role of B6 in the prevention of "estrogen dominance"

Here is one link:

http://www.ultrapms.com/pms/estrogen.htm

I'm thinking of adding some moderate amounts of B6 (e.g. 50mg) to my ttc girl attempt. Especially because many B6 food sources (e.g. breakfast cereal, potatoes, bananas) are "boy friendly" so we might be depriving ourselves from B6 when on girl diet.
