I rocked a soak (my first time) using hard rock at first because some of my dipes are used and I don’t know what kind of water the pervious owner had so I figured I would just start off with hard rock. After soaking about 4 hours the water looked the same so I washed them with a double rinse and done a second soak with classic rock.
This time  I soaked them about 2 hours and the water turned cloudy and dirty looking. Then I double rinsed and took them out to sun.
Yesterday evening I put a dipe on my baby…and within 30 minutes it was soaked with pee running out the side. I didn’t think nothing about it. At night I always use Thirsties AIO with an extra insert. I put my LO to bed at 9 and usually change him around 2am and don’t have to again until he wakes up. Last night by 10pm he had peed all over his bed. I still didn’t really think about it and put another thirstie on him. Well by midnight he had peed all over my bed! I checked both thirsties and they were dry in the inside and all inserts were dry and that’s when I realized the pee was not absorbing, but just running out the dipes. This only started since rockin a soak...what did I do wrong Confused Huh?
Have I ruined my whole stash now? Can I fix this? Confused

Email RnG-They usually get back to their customers really fast. Otherwise, I would rinse one more time. Did you wash them after being out in the sun?

Sound like detergent build-up.  I'd boil some water and add that to your washing machine.  Let the diapers soak for a couple of hours and then rinse them (don't add detergent) several times until you don't see any suds at all when the machine is agitating.

I think you need to do more then just a double rinse after rocking a soak. &considering you did TWO soaks with only double rinses both times, I think it's detergent build up. I wash my diapers twice (with NO detergent) with a double soak both times after I rock a soak.

Thanks for the replies! I'll rinse them again til I don't see any suds (I didn't even check when washing them after soaking) and see if that helps!

Is the detergent build up from the rockin green/soak or from what evers been used on the dipes in the past? Sorry, i'm still new to all this Embarrassed

Thanks again!

   Yes, this.

Boil some water and add it to your machine, and wash on hot.  Then do lots of rinses.  Hopefully that will help :)

Also try adding 1/2 C of white vinegar (for a large load) to the water in a rinse cycle. I was told this trick when i bought new towels. Apparently it strips the residue off the fibres and makes them fluffier and more absorbent. It has worked on my towels...

Gonna sound really ignorant here... but 'rock a soak' actually mean? Happy

Also what kind of fabric are the nappies you are talking about? I have a heap of Minkies, something that looks like canvas (but probably isn't) and some terry towling based ones and was wonding if the vinegar thing would be of benefit to any of them.

Rock a Soak is just soaking all your stuff overnight in Rockin' Green detergent.  It's made for cloth diapers :)
