Hi Dr Potter My apologies if this question has already been answered...I have a newborn at home and I understandably don't have much time to read through all the posts! :) I was wondering if you by chance have any idea when HRC will start accepting new enrollment for microsort? When I look at the website, it says that the "current continued access period has expired on March 2, 2010." Many thanks for any information you could provide...and much gratitude for your willingness to answer our questions on this site. It is quite something to have access to a truly professional opinion!

You are very sweet.  MicroSort clinical trial enrollment is completed.  Continued access to MicroSort at this time is limited to patients that are already enrolled in the clinical trial and new enrollees doing it for genetic reasons.  While there is a possibility that there may be limited continued access to new family balancing patients, it is more likely that we will have an FDA decision sooner that that.  MicroSort is pushing to convene the FDA panel this summer but the FDA seems intent on stalling it until the fall.  The FDA seems to take the summer off.  Must be nice.  I will keep you posted.

Thank you for passing this information along...I will keep my fingers crossed that there will be a (positive!) FDA decision in the fall regarding Microsort. In the meantime, perhaps my husband and I will make an appointment with you so that we can discuss all of the possible options. I will give your office a call to set something up. I won't be doing anything until the end of 2010 at the earliest, but I am a planner! :) Thanks again for making yourself accessible here...I feel MUCH better about getting a question answered by an expert rather than trying to search it out on the (often unreliable) internet. :) Looking forward to meeting you...and here's to a successful week! :)
