Hi 

Does anyone know if  frozen sperm can be thawed, spun using the E method, and used for IVF w/ICSI?  Will they spin the sample and then send it to my facility?  Any info anyone has about spinning and IVF (w/or w/out ICSI) would be appreciated so much!

The gals you want to check with are the international Hi-techers. There are a few clinics that offer the spinning/IVF approach. I have heard from Dr. Potter that the E method is a bit of a scam so I am not sure if I would reccomend it. I would suggest plain olf IVF/PGD if you don't want to use MS. It can be done with ICSI though.

I live in CT and did the Ericsson technique with Dr. Silverman in NY. Is that the "spin doctor" you mean? We went to Dr. Silverman early last year and, at that time, he was the closest Ericsson doctor to CT.

I can't really answer your question about using thawed sperm or not. We did ours opposite that. We had the sperm sample sorted and then it was frozen. It was thawed on the day of my egg retrieval and used to make our embryos. Our first IVF cycle failed so we used frozen embryos for a FET. We definitely had a lot of freezing and thawing going on, but it wasn't in the order you're talking about. Also, we were close enough to Dr. Silverman that we were able to drive the sperm sample back and forth. It was about an hour commute. Dr. Silverman sorted the sample and DH drove it back between his legs to keep it warm to my RE in CT. My RE in CT then froze the sample at his office and stored it until our IVF cycle.

I think your best bet is to email the doctor and ask them if they can do what you need them to do. I know it is possible to have frozen sperm samples shipped back and forth from office to office, it's just a matter of whether or not these particular doctors will do it.

have you done PGD as well and if yes what was the ratio of embrios?

No, I didn't do PGD with my cycle. We did just IVF and Ericsson so I don't know the ratio of male or female embryos. Sorry.

I haven't done it yet so I dont know the results, but I went for a consult today with a clinic in NYC, and the dr. told me that it is their standard procedure to do Erricson and then PGD for gender selection, just to increase the chances of the desired gender. It is also their standard procedure to do ICSI. He also mentioned that if my DH is not around during ER, he can make his deposit prior, I guess that means freezing the sperms?

I am new to the Errisson procedure, but I hope this helps.
