i agree that people in urban areas tend to have babies older because of the cost of living.

however from a medical perspective it is healtier to have babies in your 20s!  Infertility is such a bigger industry now because of people delaying for career reasons and stability reasons. Not to mention all the increases in birth defects and high risks after 35. I say if both parters are planning to be together forever and want a child, go for it!Happy

Wishing On A Star :)

Noooooo that's not young for having her first!! I LOL'd hard when I got to the bit where you said she is 31, I was on my third child by then!! Most women freak out and get a bit depressed when they turn 30 over here in Ireland..like they have left there 20's and are nolonger considered to be "young", it did'nt bother me, but most of my friends got really down on their 30th birthdays lol.....Young mother? I dont think so...I was 27 and purposely waited til then...Happy Giggle

Some of us like me are able to produce healthy babies in our 30's. Some do it much later. I wasn't going to breed w/ the slim buckets I dated in my early/mid twenties. I know several in high school who had babies young, are they still with the father? Nope, that was after all over 10 years ago.

Serenity, I too had my first at 19 and it definatly made me grow up. although I was never a huge partier in the first place I stopped hangn with the ppl i did and became all about my son. Becoming a mom was the best life changing experience...too bad its not the same for all moms...I know so many that didnt even let it change their lives..still live with parents..dont work...or school....go out and party....maybe its because I didnt want my mom raising my son..idk...but I refused to be like that...Hell i never had a babysitter until my son was about 3 and i started trying to become a CNA...the only time someone watches my children is when I am working if..i can afford the daycare out of the pay lol....but to answer your question...No 31 is not young..its not super old either but it is definatly not qualifying for the young mom group..maybe she just wants to feel young????? lolI know there are times i hate being young because i feel like im really just super old and hate the looks i get for being so young and so...productive lol....

I'd say 25 and younger is a young mum - definitely not 31!
