    Remembering 9/11

Like most of us, I will never forget what I was doing that morning... sitting on the couch nursing my infant twins... flipping through the morning shows when suddenly CNN cut to a puff of smoke on the World Trade Center... being filled with horror as the day got worse and worse.  On this day I always look at my twins, at how big they are, and think of those who were babies or unborn that day and lost their mother or father, they are this age too now, this is how long they have been without that parent. Sad Crying

Remembering those who were lost that day... those who have been lost since that day.... those who are always there to keep us safe, secure, and free.

It is my sons birthday today..the 12th for us in Australia but I remember getting a phone call around 5am to say look at the news..I was in shock & as the day went on my heart sank. Ds#2 always says his day is bittersweet as the world was forever changed but I also like to think it united the world too. My heart still crys at the loss of life but where they is life there is hope..to all those beautiful lost souls..you are gone in body but will never be forgotten xoSad Flower

We had a frightening incident in Sydney yesterday (which was 9/11 for us).  Someone on a bus listening to old 9/11 reports decided to shout "there's a bomb on the bus"  Turned out there wasn't, but it was a major road and people were stuck in traffic gridlock for hours.  Scary.

I also will never forget that morning.  I was asleep when my FIL called me to tell me what was going on.  I turned on the tv and just cried.  Then had to get ready to go to work.  I worked as a dental assistant and all the patients were calling out.  My dh was training near NY and I was freaking out.  He was no where near the twin towers.  I started getting calls from family.  My cousin was in one of the towers.  We just prayed and prayed he would be ok...and he did get out.  Thank GOD!!!  My first son is considered a Sept 11th baby because he was conceived shortly after the tragedy.  There was a huge baby boom that following year.

    amen.

i remember holding my kids soooo tight that night.  i can't imagine those poor babies who lost parents. i tivo oprah every day and saw she had kids that lost parents on yesterday.  i couldn't bring myself to watch it last night.

i know there is a reason for everything, but a kid with out a parent will never make sense to me.

    Re: Remembering 9/11

Even though I'm from the UK I will NEVER forget that day myself.  We had just gone been for an ice cream at a place that sold every flavour there was going - Bonds Ice Cream - umm, yummy the thought of it.  Well we were driving back - ds1 was only 5 months old then and the news came on the car radio.  We stopped the car immediately and listened for what must have been 1/2 hour as the events unfolded.

We then headed back home - both numb really and put the television on straight away as soon as we got in.  The first thing we saw was the pictures of the first aeroplane that hit the tower.  They showed it at least three times.  I was stunned, I remember just standing there with ds1 in my arms in total disbelief and crying my eyes out.  I could not believe what I was seeing.

That day will forever stick in my mind.  We also got every newspaper there was going that day to remember it by.  That's something that you will never forget - especially you guys.  We know if affected you so much but it also affected us UK'ers too.

Ds1 is also 6 now - just like your twins Maureen, so I can totally relate to how you are feeling when you look at them now.
