I am so thrilled I started crying...

Guatemala adoptions are being resumed! It says it will open to 4 countries to start with, not sure if it is the US, I had heard through the grapevine that they are starting in Europe first, but I am sure US will follow soon. I am so happy, we are hearing of hundreds of babies left to die because there is nowhere to place them.
God has answered many prayers!!!!
I will pass on any more info I get, I know many of us here were hoping for this.... :)

Oh what wonderful news! I was becoming really worried with all the countries closing (like Korea) or getting more restrictive (like China.) And while I am thinking of it - Guat doesn't have a BMI (weight) restriction like the Asian countries, does it?
Because of finances DH only wants to look into foster (and not now because he is losing his job and that is ANOTHER infuriating story at how he has been treated at work...) but anyway you never know when something can happen maybe I will buy the winning lottery ticket who knows....

Eight, are you thinking about Guatemala again yourself?
J's soccer team had an end of season soccer party a few days ago, and there were two families there with children from Guatemala. One adopted two boys a month apart from the same foster home (now both six years old), and the other adopted a girl (now almost four) from Guatemala after adopting a boy from Russia. It was really neat to hear their stories. The one with the girl from Guatemala just had a biological baby five months ago. Their adopted kids came home at 12 months and 18 months, so this is their third child but their first experience with an infant. That is an interesting perspective!

Not right away. My next baby/child/children will be coming from the US. Both our homestudies will be done within the next month (the state one and the private update) and I know that there is someone right here "in our own backyard" that is going to join us. :)
One day, however, we will bring back special ones from Guatemala, that I also know. My heart and soul is THERE.

Crap! I was hoping I had more time! LOL! Do we know WHEN things might be a go?
Plan A - MS/IVF/PGD planned for March with Dr. Potter @ HRC for another - I cancelled. Just doesn't feel right. Plan B - foster/adopt our little princess! Ugh - was told there is NO NEED in our area so we can't be licensed Plan C - still working on this one......

You have plenty of time. By Dec 3 all countries have to "apply" and then the powers that be in Guat will decide who gets ot do this pilot program. Even if the US is chosen, it will take time to get it started and then you have 2 years. After that, the hope is that adoptions will resume completely...lets just hope they don't go all "China" on us and have ridiculous restrictions. Until now, Guatemala had one of the most liberal and easy programs. :/
