I have been in contact with several of my area INV specialty clinics as well as GIVF Institute about the Live Birth guarantee plans. Here's what I found- all offer Live Birth Guarantees with MS INV. BUT NONE will even let me pay for the added PGD testing if I purchase the guaranteed plan. I want to have the full PGD as long as I am at it, might as well make sure the embryos are normal before INV. I do not understand why no one will let me do this with the live birth guaranteed plans. Makes no sense to me! I would really like to have the live birth guarantee, but not having the PGD option bothers me. They just say "we cannot guarantee sex". I understand, but why not let us make sure they are normal first. Is there any way around this? Should I really skip the birth guaranteed plans and just do a 4 cycle plan with MS PGD and hope we deliver a baby? Seems risky.

The actuarial assumptions they use to calculate the 'guarantee' price do not take into consideration the possibility that the patient might have normal embryos that are not used because the are the opposite gender. I am not sure that we have this exception at HRC, especially if MS is used. However if you qualify for the baby guarantee at HRC, it is usually more cost effective to do a 2 or 3 cycle package as the additional cost of each added cycle is only $2000 per for those under 35. I would do a similar calculation with the numbers from your center to see if this is not also the case.

Dr. Potter, If other MS clinics in SoCA and GIVF are offering a live birth guarantee option if the patient skips PGD (thus, it is not dependent on which gender results but only that a live birth occurs and the patient is using fresh MS in their IVF), can you also offer a live birth guarantee (with MS and patient skips PGD) and up to age 40 yrs old?

Thanks!
