molerwntpnk:Soooo, unfortunately I REALLY don't want the $25,000 opposite as someone said ;) I guess no guarantee then :(
I think you are confused as to what a shared risk plan means. It means that both of you are assuming the risk that you will get pregnant. So lets say you get pregnant on the 2nd try but paid for 3 cycles. You will not get your money back but that is the risk that you took by going with the 3 cycle package. Now if you didn't get pregnant at all and paid for 3 cycles then you would get the majority of that money back and that is the risk that the RE's clinic took. When you add in PGD for gender selection you are taking away half of the embryos (without MS) from the start so they are not going to guarantee anything because you may or may not be using the best embryos because you are chosing them based on gender not quality. You may have great quality embryos of both gender but you are only using one of them.
The guarantee for gender is still the same if you use PGD with or without a shared risk plan. There are many clinics that will allow you to purchase a 2 cycle package but it is not shared risk, which is the means you will not get your money back if you don't get pregnant but it still saves you money in the end.
Right now the success rate for a girl is 90% with MS alone, if you add PGD then you will get a 99.9% guarantee that you are getting a girl it has nothing to do with a shared risk plan or a multicycle plan. If you don't want a $20k opposite then for sure do the PGD.
