Third Cycle Almost Cancelled ..... Pls give me some hope !!! Or Advice xoxo

Ladies,

As most of you know I am 1/2 through my third IVF/PGD cycle.  The first two cancelled due to very low follicle count.  This cycle my DH and I put all our faith and prayers in it- I have been on 750 FSH, DHEA, micro-lucrin, oestrogen priming protocol- the apparently "last ditch / resort" for poor responders.

I am sad to report that at 5:30am this morning on Day 7 of my cycle they found only 1 on my left and 4/5 on my right side.  The Dr knew I had tears in my eyes (yet again- my body had let me down) and was so very compassionate and disaapointed for me.  He gave us all our options including cancelling and going ahead in the HOPE that some of them are strong and make it through fertilisation, 5 days and PGD etc.  He took us to a quiet room for DH and I to discuss.  Through my tears and pain my darling DH insisited we GO FOR IT !!!!!!!!!  We have never made it to ER before and my sweet DH thinks that perhaps we may have the strongest eggs known to man and that they could all make it and that we could have our baby girl(s).   As he said- if we cancel again, its over, (as my Dr does not believe there is any other option or protocol that could change my poor response) and then the "What ifs" may start...... So we are spending the big money and going ahead praying that there may be 1 or 2 hiding (although my Dr said that there wasn't) and that the eggs he gets are very strong and robust !!!!

Since making this decision my heart beats a little less painfully as at least we are giving it a shot !!!! 

I NEED to hear anyone else that has had success with low eggs/ follicle counts PLEASE I BEG YOU to share your stories or numbers with me.

Also does anyone know anything else I could do ?  I am going to message the famous and beautifil Dr P and ask for his advice but you ladies are my strength and I want to hear from you on what you believe might help IF I COULD convince my Dr to allow me another go !!!

p.s., My Dr also thought my eggs were very big for Day 7 (18,16 etc) which he didn't like but hay we are still going ahead.  Perhaps our DD is waiting in there. xoxoxxo  

If this is your last attempt, then I would go for it too!  If your follicles are that size, hopefully they will be mature. I don't see why they won't be.  We have seen several gals on here be successful with 6 or so follicles so there is definitely hope.  I know that it is so disappointing to not produce a lot of follicles.  I hope she is waiting for you!  Good luck!

I am so sorry that you are going through this. Unfortunately, I don't have any similar experience(s) to share but just wanted to offer support and let you know that I think you are doing the right thing by moving forward with ER. Otherwise, you will always wonder. It is definitely a good possibility that you do have strong eggs and your daughter is in there! As has been said before, it only takes ONE! As Ash said, it only takes one!  I like your DH's attitude and I agree.....go for it and good luck! 

 Go for it!  You've got to try.  If you don't, you'll always wonder what if?  It only takes one.  Quality over quantity, right?

Good luck!  I would go for it too!  I will pray for lots of mature eggs and that they ALL fertilize.  Are you going to use ICSI on them? 

 I would go for it too!!  You never know what they could get at ER!  I would PM iwantpink and talk to her.  She was also on a high dose of stims and at one point when I talked to her she only saw 1 follicle after 7 days of stims.  Well she ended up having 10 eggs retrieved!!!  She was also on an estrogen priming protocol and on a super high dose of stims.  It can happen and I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Oh girls you always manage to put a smile on my face.  I thank god slept well last night BUT woke every hour or two thinking about my 5/6 eggs praying there was more and hoping they would stay strong and mature.  I HAVE TO GIVE IT A GO, I just have to.  After all this pain, dissapointment and money I can't give up. 

I am even going to contact Dr P after this cycle and see if he would do anything differently IF we travlled to HRC .........

You have to go for it!! My story is so similar. My first cycle was cancelled due to low response. My second one was almost cancelled but we decided to keep going. They too only saw 6 on my ultrasound. My results:

12 retrieved, 8 mature, 5 fertilized, 3 made it to day 3, 1 healthy girl (Grade C mind you) to transfer on day 5.

Today I am almost 7 weeks pregnant.

Oh Steffani as I sit here trying to do some work (but thinking about my follicles) I am literally shaking after reading your post.  I have goosebumps and feel nauseous at the possibility that I too may be like you.  IT CAN HAPPEN....OMG I truly didn't believe it 100% until I read your post.  Now I know we are 150% doing the right thing.  Steffani you give me hope and confidence in our decision and I cannot thank you enough....I MUST CALL MY DH....

I have one question.....do you think we should do ICSI ?  Mr Dr says its up to us.  DH has super sperm (he is 30 and had some ridiculous figures in his sample)......?????????

And for all you aussie gals do you know if ICSI costs more and if so how much ?

Oh I feel on cloud nine now.  Perhaps this is not a pipe dream.....

YES!  If you are going to go for it, you should definately use ICSI!!  you don't want to lose any more because they don't fertilize and that should improve your fertilization report.  ABSOLUTELY DO THAT!!

I can share a similar story, it didn't look like i was going to be a good responder either - had only four follicles at one point that they could see.  But, after ER, I woke up and found that the dr. had gotten 8 beautiful eggs, 7 matured, and thanks to ICSI - 6 fertilized.  So, although we froze them and will add this next cycles to it so that we are sending a double batch to PGD, I have six beautiful little embies waiting for me this coming cycle.  You can get more than you expect!!

Oh my I hadn't even thought about that option.  I wonder if my clinic would allow that ???? I must call.  I like the sound of doing this....................Aussie girls is this possible here ?

I am calling Dr and Clinic now to let them know we want to do ICSI ........ Oh girls what would I do without you all.....honestly your support, advice, guidance means the world to me.
