Has any of you got no embryos fertilized after ER ?

So disappointed : could not even get one suitable embryo after Egg Collection yesterday..

Doctor cannot explained; he thinks it might be early ovarian ageing (I am 37). He wants me to have DHEA

Has anybody faced the same problem ?

I am so sorry that happened but you said the RE said your eggs were not mature...that does not sound like an aging problem but they maybe triggered you too soon problem.  Did you have pretesting done?  What was you FSH?  Did you do a clomid challenge test?

I had high FSH and I did take DHEA. I went from a cancelled cycle due to too few eggs to a cycle where they collected 23 eggs so I definitely think DHEA can work for you. I am so sorry that you traveled and had this outcome.  Big hugs your way.

Not entirely the same BUT I have just had my second cycle, first in August, lots of follicles only 4 eggs retrieved, out of those only 2 were good. October cycle, lots of follicles, 3 eggs, only one was good. I'm 27 and the doctor hadnt seen this before and couldnt explain why. He did mention the early ovarian ageing.

I don't have any advice but I am very sorry you are having to go through this. I've never heard of that!

I ask the doc whether they may have triggered it too soon and apparently my follicules were big enough (even too big for some of them) and my FSH was normal (had a blood test before they decided to trigger, the same day..). He said he cannot see any explanation except that my follicules could not produce eggs capable of being fertilized...

Did you get your boy ? How many cycles did you undergo ?

Oh goodness, hugs to you...I am so sorry.  It's so disapointing when you get bad news like that.  Did you do ICSI for fertilization?  If not, i would trying that...we used ICSI (basically they inject one sperm directly into the egg).  Almost all of my eggs that they retrieved fertilized thanks to this amazing technology...did you do ICSI?

Not quite the same....but I had 19 eggs retreived and only 5 of them fertilized using ICSI.  I have NO idea what went wrong.  I ended up with no normal females to transfer in the end.  I understand the feeling of failing before I could even give it a 100% try.  It is devistating!

Before I read all of the responses my first thought is that you were triggered to soon.  This is not an egg quality or any other problem other than the doctor screwed up.  This is totally my opinion and I am not a doctor nor am I an RE but I can't imagine that there is any other explanation than a screw up.  I also hate to say it but of course your doctor is going to tell you the follies were big enough.  That covers his butt and he his cop out response is that he has no idea what happened.  

Is there anyway to get your file and see what the size of the follicles were at the ultrasound when they triggered you?  Also what were your E2 levels on the day of your trigger shot?  And how many follicles did you have at trigger? 

So sorry this happened to you.  That is just awful!

I had the same situation at my first cycle, 6 eggs retrieved, 5 mature but none fertilized, they didnt use ICSI though. At my second cycle 9 retrieved 7 mature 3 fertilized with ICSI. We clearly have some fertilization issues, but the doctors dont know is it due to poor egg quality or sperm problem.

I hope it works for you next time, I know how devastating "no fertilization" news can be,

I have double checked with the UK team and they said they would have triggered me on the same day - they think the size was ok adn blood tests ok too.

So maybe this early ovarian ageing is true after all; I am just 37 and had a case of Down 2 years ago when trying naturally; which might prove my eggs are of poor quality. Not sure I want to try again and spend all that money if my eggs cannot even be fertilized...They said I should try DHEA..

We did ICSI as it is always the case when you do PGD...but most of the eggs could not even undergo the procedure...

I am 38 with a very high fsh (33) and was put on DHEA.  I had been taking it close to three months when I did my iui with injectables.  I only had one mature follicle at the time of the iui but it must have been a good one because I am currently 13 weeks pregnant with what appears to be  a healthy baby.  In my case the DHEA did not increase number of follicles, but maybe qulaity.  I would try the DHEA, the studies are very promising and it can't hurt.  Good luck!
