I have to go to the dentist next week.Yuck I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to get some cavities filled so therefore I will get a shot of novocaine. Does that sway? It will be cd11 for me which should be at least a few days before I ovulate. Also I'm probably going to get x-rays. Does that do anything?  And this is a silly question.. I know I won't be pregnant at that time, but I'm sure there will be sperm waiting (or at least I hope!) will the x-ray hurt them?

Really? Doesn't the radiation kill off the boy sperm? I see the ion part of it, but people who have exposure to radiation have more girls. For men anyway.

I searched and found 2 threads from the past. One of them was about xrays of the upper body and conceiving a child in general and the conclusion was that a child can still be conceived - didn't say which it favored. However, another post about radiation said that the radiation can favor girls. Some of the people on the same post said they had boys, but it was the radiation exposure from a job they were talking about and not radiation from xrays.

Here is the link about radiation

It just seems like something like this would be more likely to effect or kill off the weaker boy sperm just like hot baths and warmer temps.

I was just reading on one of the studies in the FAQ and it says this:

"Non-ionizing radiation
I noted that men exposed to non-ionizing radiation reportedly subsequently sired excesses of daughters (James, 1997bGo). I suggested that such men may have ‘a hormone profile of non-specific pathology’. So it is gratifying that Grajewski et al. (2000Go) have confirmed this prediction in reporting a significantly low testosterone level in radiofrequency heater operators. "

SO, I looked up what non ionizing radiation is and it is things like static fields, power lines, microwaves, heating... and I am sure there are other things too that isn't listed. So, now I am concerned because these things emit + ions which is good for ttc a boy, but apparently these things are not good for the DH (and DW to a lesser extent) because it lowers testosterone.

What are others' thoughts on this?
