thanks for so many of your great stories ladies. I really do hope my son is right, but only time will tell of course, we're not even pregnant yet. i'm not sure why the teacher asked him who is going to bring us this baby girl ? maybe she was looking to find out more from him about how he knew this and or to find out if i was actually pregnant ? We go to a religious school so maybe she was fishing for this answer, i really have no clue i wasn't there! but, i still am pretty amazed at him saying God will do this. he's so young still to think that way, and to understand about there being any correlation what so ever.

It is an old wives tale, but several of my friends say small children have been right.

Why can't my 4-yo predict the baby's gender? Maybe she lost heavenly connection. Too secular I guess Happy ROFL She keeps saying she can talk to the baby in the womb but says "the baby cannot tell its own gender bcs it cannot bend to see its own bottom and it doesn't have a mirror inside"! She  also says "Oh how I wish it's a sister! I will have to play games with it if it's a brother!"

I love these kinds of stories!  They give me chills.  I had 2 neat "kid" things happen to me, so I do believe some kids can have this connection.

When preggo with DD, I was 6 weeks and had spotting and cramping and was very nervous about the outcome.  I was driving in the car with my sons and felt bad cramping and made a noise of discomfort, I guess, and my son who was just about 3 asked me what was wrong.  I told him I just wanted everyone to be okay (being vague since we hadn't told him about the pregnancy and of course wouldn't want to get into details anyway).  He paused and then asked, "mommy, is our baby sister okay?"  It was REALLY freaky and he was right!

Also, I used to teach, and one of my third graders came up to me one day and asked if I had a baby in my belly.  The next day I got a BFP for DS2!

Wow, tropicalbreeze, that's amazing! (I didn't know how to quote your post)You gave me chills too.

I was told only the younger children can predict...like those 1.5- 2 yos who just talks in words and not in sentences...but apparantly school children can too!

My 6 year old daughter told us that she is sure this baby is a boy. God I hope she's right, but when I asked her why, she very simply said, "Well, you can't always get what you want!" Very simply, my girls want another girl, and since I always tell them how lucky I am to have three little girls, they think we also automatically want one more girl. It was so cute, and I was so happy because I always want them to feel as if each and every one was so very wanted by us, which is the absolute truth. It makes my happy to hear that she thinks we always wanted girls. Naturally, she has no idea how hard we tried for a boy this time. LOL

This time around my DS#1 told me God told his heart it was a girl....he was right, but he also knew I wanted a girl so that may have been part of it.

When I was PG the first time, my nephew said I was having a girl and he was right.  I was only like 5 weeks PG at the time and he was 5 years old.

On another note, do you ever plan on telling your son about your first baby girl?

I totally believe this, children are so much more open to this kind of thing as they don't have any scepticism yet and are all sweet, innocent and open.

When I was preg with DS, my DD insisted she was having a brother (she was four). There was never any question about it, she was having a brother. Well, the whole family thought (and wanted) a girl, not a single one wanted a boy, she was the only one, and she was right! she wasn't surprised at all when we told her it was a boy, said 'I said it was didn't I mummy'.

I guess she knew!

ready-for-another?

So after this post I thought I would probe a little at the kids. I asked my sons last night about having another baby and what it would be. They informed me that we are going to have a million babies! I guess it has to come out naturally.

I just wanted to say that there must be some truth to this.  I am 33 weeks pregnant and from the time the baby was conceived my four year old son called the baby a girl/she etc.  I have three boys so I never latched on to calling the baby a girl but after three ultrasounds I guess my son was/is right!
