Tomorrow I am starting my progesterone shots and this is an instruction that Lori wrote me: You will use your 3ml syringe and the 18g 1 ½” needle to draw up the 2 ml’s of the oil. Then take that needle off and replace it with the 22g 11/2” needle to give your injection.   However, in accordance with the description on my package that I have been sent from MDR, there are different syringes, 25g with the light blue cap. And I have just very few 18g (pink caps). Those that used progesterone injections, could you write me your experiences? I mean which needles did you use?

If you want you can draw up with the 25g needle but it will take a long time to get it drawn up.  Then inject with the 22g 1-1/2" needle.  That is what I did.  You can use any needle you want to draw it up but I would definitely use the 22g to inject because it isn't a gigantic needle but yet you will be able to press it in with some ease.  That is the only reason they have you draw it up with the 18g is so that it flies into the syringe.  LOL!

Thank you, Michaela, that is what I actually was planning to do. Actually I could draw it with the same 22g needle?

my nurse had me draw progesterone with the 22g and give the injection with the 25g (I was more than happy about this since it's a thinner needle-although sometimes you do have to push a little harder).  I only used the 18g to draw and 22g to inject for the estradiol.  HTH

Actually that dulls the needles so that is why they have you change it.  It also runs the risk of getting small pieces of rubber from the tops of the vials if you inject with the same needle so I wouldn't recommend that.

Do you have a 3ml syringe w/ 22g already attached? I draw with that and then switch to the 25g to inject. The 18g I have are for the Estrodial Valerate(sp?). I also have been combining the two medications before I inject. I love that I am not giving myself 2 injections. HTH!

In the package from MDR is coming 3ml syringe with 22g already attached and I have a bunch of 25g syringes. And it is in the packet marked for Progesterone. This is why I guess that the idea was to draw with 22g and then switch to 25g to inject. However, Lori wrote me different instructions. I really have just a few 18g syringes left, so I guess I will be drawing with 22g and then injecting with 25g. Thank you all for your inputs, I am leaving to USA today! I will be updating you.

I also inject with the blue 25g needle. I am small so they gave me the 25g 1 needle vs. 1 1/2.

progestron needles are gray and blue. Draw from the grey needles and then change it to blue.
