Gender Swaying... do you feel it really works?
|
|
tiffany- congrats on the pregnancy! what was your sway like? did you do all 7 factors? i think it works in alot of cases, but not for all. i think sometimes you just can't control gender. we can do all we can, but in the end, it is just not in our court to determine. i do however believe in alot of theories on here about diet, lifestyle, hormones... because all of the "boy" factors with these are totally me and i have 2 boys. so makes me wonder if i switch things around if i CAN have a girl. we will see! congrats!!! did you use the soy? post your attempt!!

well first of all congrats on the pregnancy!!! I"m so happy for you. :)
I think that swaying is just that, swaying...it increases chances to have a certain gender, but it is not a guarantee by any means.
Those of us who are swaying should be ttc'ing because the want another child and will be ok to get an opposite, kwim? We all have to prepare ourselves...the main thing that swaying does for me is give me peace of mind...I will be happy with either, just gonna give it my all

Thanks. I did the swaying for 8 months. The last 3 months I was seeing lot's of girls saying they swayed and it didn't work and so I wasn't giving 100% anymore. I was doing the supplements from about 10-12 dpo until ovulation again those few months and would cheat a little right after ovulation. I did the douche only for a few cycles but stopped after my m/c and didn't do it the bfp cycle. I was still using a small amount of Replens. I used it twice my bfp cycle around ovulation. I was taking Sudafed around ovulation as well. About 1-4 pills a day (I forget). And these were the supplements-
Soy 200 mg cd 3-7
Folic Acid 400 mcg
Cranberry 2,000 - 4,000 mg (bottle amount... so im sure it was even higher for fresh fruit)
Magnesium 500 mg
Calcium 24,00 mg
Baby Aspirin every 2-5 days 81 mg
Vit-C (sometimes if it was mixed with the cranberry)
I was eating 1-2 yogurts a day, crystal light a few times, extra milk, and tried to do light on the salt. I would eat things sugar free and ate strawberries as much as I could stand it. No bananas ever, no orange juice, or apples. I never eat meat anyway. I would add equal to cranberry juice and drink that. My diet was so so. It was A LOT different than what I normally eat though. We bd though ovulation. I had no real cm though

IFirst of all Congrats!! I never swayed with my boys and I didn't sway before I had the m/c. I began lurking here when I found out I was pregnant in April 09. I didn't know much about swaying but after reading up a little I just knew I was carrying another boy. In May I had a m/c and a few weeks later I joined and learned alot and began putting that info to use as I knew we would try to concieve again as soon as dr gave the green light. Well here I am almost 15 weeks and I don't know if the swaying I did helped but I like to think it may have increased my odds just a little for a girl. My timing ended up being off b/c I had a false O and didn't realize it until much later so we'll see how things work out.

i was kind of thinking of this today. i agree w babydust-swaying is just swaying the odds a bit in our favor. i was thinking about how there may be tons of smaller factors that affect what gender we get. like, age, amount of sleep, emotional/psychological state, etc. i think all we can try to do is look at the research, decide what we feel comfortable, and then hope & pray for the best. what makes it so tricky is that we are all different, all the time. and w/ results-well, is our desired gender from swaying or just what was meant to be?

Congrats on pregnancy!! This is a very interesting topic. I haven't try the swaying yet, I have three boys and would love to have a girl but in my opinion I personally believe that its all up to God on the end..... Swayed or no Sway . I planned to do the supplement and some of the swaying stuff but I won't get into it fully as I think it's all up to God and swaying is just for fun and for peace of mind to hear that supplements etc. increases your chances of getting the gender you are trying for.

Congrats on your pregnancy!!! I knew about swaying before I had DS#3. But thouht it was all in Gods hands so it didn't matter what I did.
Now that I'm thinking of having another. I will sway. Then if I do get another boy at least I won't wonder. I think diet has to have something to do with it. It was a complete coincidence that I was drinking cranberry juice when I concieved my DD. But I think that swayed me to have a girl..
I have also decided that I may want 6 kids and that takes off the pressure a TON..
I'm crossing my fingers that you have a super sticky baby and that its the Girl you want!!

I kinda think it works. I know there are some people though that may just be unswayable. I was in more boy territory than girl and I did have a boy. So I'd like to think it might work for me ( ). A lot of people seem to doing some girl things and have a girl and some boy things and have a boy. Like, when I was conceived my mom was always dieting and was pretty thin. Then she gained some weight and wasn't dieting and conceived my brother. This is just one example. With most people I know I can see why they have girls or boys.

I'm not sure if it works or if it's coincidence...who really knows...there's now way to know forsure...I do know that in conceiving all my boys I NEVER drank milk and had very little dairy/calcium in my diet and ate tons of chips and sweets. I was always very thin but just naturally so...no dieting or anything so I never lost but I never gained either and I always always have loved crystal light and that's almost all I have ever drank. My SIL has an eating disorder and hardly eats at all and she had a girl...as for the other factors I'm not sure. A lot of the people I know that have boys do tend to eat lots of meat and potatoes and what not...large families especially I think we tend to eat more off the boy foods because we're making enough food to feed a family...I dunno. Also seeing that my ph goes up to 7 every time we dtd makes me think ph could very well play a big role as well. So I don't know if I believe in it or not...but I know I want to believe in it.

I believe in God, so above all I believe he gives us what we NEED not necessarily what we want.
That said, I wanted a girl with #1 and I prayed and prayed and prayed for a girl with #2 and had boys both times.
This last time around, I did sway along with praying alot. We are now having a girl. I do feel swaying tipped the scales in our favor as it was the only thing we did different from the last 2 times, but I think no matter what you do you get what God feels you need.

Well, I swayed for a boy with my first and got a boy. SO I was a big believer in swaying.
I did not sway with number 2, although pretty much did the same thing for number one and got a boy
With my last I swayed for a girl really hard. I got another boy.
I do think you can tip the odds but even if you go from 50/50 and get it up to 70/30 you still have an excellent chance of getting an opposite.
I tend to believe more that certain couples favor one gender over the other and swaying does little . If I did it again I would maybe sway a little but to be honest I do think most of it does not work at least not enough to go crazy about it or to expect the gender you want.
