Adalyn seems to be fussy when she's awake more often than not unless she is being fed, being held with a pacifier in her mouth or being bounced in her bouncy seat where I have to manually bounce her. I looked up signs of a colicy baby and it says that they usually cry for 3 plus hours at a time and usually at night. This is not true of Adalyn. She doesn't do this at night usually and it's never for 3 hours plus. I can console her usually and I don't allow her to just cry. So could she still be colicy? If so what can I do? If not, still what can I do? I'm at my wits end. I feel like she is so unhappy and I have no idea how to get her to start being a happier baby.

Could be gas. My little man is having terrible, terrible gas. I called his Doc on monday and they told me to give him Mylicon but that is not working for him. He is up most of the night, not crying but just fussy. During the day, he fusses when the gas is coming out. I am taking him  to his doc today. I am thinking it may be formula that he eating.

We tried music too, that doesnt help either. I can either hear or smell the gas. The gas is really really stinky too.

Have you tried loud white noise?  We have sound machines in our kids rooms.  Put it under her crib, swaddle and see if she will go down.  She could be overtired if she's not sleeping enough during the day.  If you stand over her crib for a few minutes with the paci in, place your hand over her eyes (without touching her).  You may have to stand there for a few minutes.  This may help her block out the stimulation around and drift off.  She should probably be napping between each feed during the day.

If you eliminate overtiredness....you may want to take her in to the ped.  But I would think that if it was reflux she'd suffer at night too.  That's what makes me think maybe OT.

Have you tried Gripe Water? The kind I buy is made by little tummies and where I live it's sold at target. It's for a fussy baby. When Hannah has an upset tummy or is fussy I give her some. It's worked wonders for me, it takes about 5 minutes to work once it kicks in she calms down and usually goes to sleep. It also helps with the hiccups.

I took my ds to the doc today for the exact same thing. Was told to try soy formula. I went to wal mart and they had the enfamil soy based formula on sale for a 1.00 so a bought a couple just to try and see if that works. Will let you know if it helps tomorrow. I also saw a brand of enfamil called gentlease which is designed specifically for gassy and fussy babies.

Well, my DD is was and still is a fussball. I was complaining to my 88 year old Grandma one day, and she said, 'Well, she's a baby! What do you expect?!" I don't know about your son, but for me, BOTH my boys were easy going as newborns, and adjusting to a new (fussy) baby can be hard, but think of it this way: she's been alive for a month...give her time to adjust to the world before doing all sorts of stuff. Take a deep breathe when she's getting under your skin and stay calm. It'll be a quick hump to get over. Colicky is upset ALL the time, and if she's not in that category, just try to bear with her.

P.S. My baby gets better a little every day. I think Addy will, too. Good luck hun.

Praying for those who lost a baby; may their angels take comfort in heaven.

I loved Good Start too.  A lot of kids are sensitive to soy as well.
