what kind of birth control are you ladies taking?  I am thinking of the pills or the deop shot. I hate the depo because it made me gain wait the last time I was on it. The pill has worked well for me but I just hate having to take it everyday.

I think I am going to do the Paraguard IUD...I have heard tons of bad stuff with the Mirena and I know a couple women who took theirs out because of the way it made them feel.

It is a little thing they stick in the opening of your cervix and it prevents pg from implanting...lasts 10y no hormone, but you O each month..baby just doesn't implant.

With the Mirena..you don't Ovulate and people (from what I have seen) have been depressed on it and just not feeling 'right'. This one lasts 5y.

I have had the Mirena coil in for the past 3 years and LOVE IT!!! what's more I don't have a period and I don't have to worry for the next two years. I will be having another one in after my PGD cycle in Summer 2011, no doubts about it. I personally know lots of my friends had it and never had a problem with it.

Lots of bad stuff has been said and wrote about the Mirena coil but it's all an individual thing. What works for some don't work for all. I can't take the pill because it gives me terrible mood swing, I tried the depo and it took nearly a year for my period to come back.

If you have heavy period then it will reduce it a lot, my friend has had for the past 5 months because of this and she feels like a different person. I haven't had a period for over 2 years! I am in my element!

I found this on the "net doctor" website:

The Mirena IUS should ideally be inserted in the first five days of your menstrual cycle (day one is the first day of your period). This will provide immediate protection against pregnancy. The IUS can be inserted at other times in your cycle if your doctor is sure you are not pregnant, but you will need to use an extra method of contraception (eg condoms) for the first seven days after it is inserted.

I can't feel it and no does DP. It really is like no having it at all and without the hassle of remembering the pill or anything like it, protection, worry free for 5 years, pure heaven!

Talk to your doctor I am sure they will be able to tell you everything you need to know.

Mirena Agree

My DH could feel the strings during sex for a few weeks, but I think they soften up and get out of the way after a while.  No complaints recently.

I got mine inserted at my 6 week PP check up.  It was a little more uncomfortable than a pap smear but not too bad at all.

I've had a couple of instances of spotting, but no period.

So far I am quite pleased.  I've hated everything else (BCP, Depo, Condoms)
