I am from the UK - we are just trying at home swaying methods to try for our DD. We did look at the clinic in Brimingham but it was too expensive for us plus we would need to travel abroad as you know so we are going with swaying we have been TTC our DD for 7 months now.

I'm in the UK & soooo desperate for a girl.... new to this site so getting used to all the abbreviations etc!!!

All I've ever wanted is a girl & with 3 boys & age 35 this is really my last chance! If we had the money then I would def go abroad. This is not so important to my dh as he has a girl from his previous marriage (not that i'm bitter about the smug ex-wife or anything???!!!).

This is our 1st month of trying to naturally sway. I've been taking Cranberry, Calc, magnes supps. Also got Lydia Pinkham off Ebay & have been taking that too. We did a Lemon Douche but have a feeling that I made it too acidic & stopped on day 13 but only had  ovulation pains today (day 16). Not sure if I messed up this month?

Anyway, thought I'd let you know that here is another UK mum longing & dreaming for a pink one!!

I too am looking into the high tech route to get my longed for dd. I have 4 sons who I love dearly but I did try to sway the odds for a girl on my last one. I had the perfect "girl" attempt and still had a boy so imo High tech is the only way to go! I am considering travelling to the US for IVF with PGD but this is all a long way off as my dh does not want to even talk about it for 4/5 years! I am researching like crazy and am hoping to talk him round to looking at it sooner, we'll have to wait and see.  I had to talk him round to trying for no.4 so I'm not sure that he will be so easy this time round!!!

What are your plans?

 

Hi Clare I'm also from Uk. We want a girl after 4 boys. I really don't know what I'd do if I had another boy. Good luck in getting your daughter.

Its such a strong feeling that you cant put to the back of your mind for 4 years. I really do feel for you. I know someimes people say that its nature and so on. one of my sons are not to my husband so people say i will probably have a girl next. Who knows its 50-50 each time. i am going to send off a letter to the Birminham clinic and see what reply i get. Also i have tried contacting HEFA to see if they have any info. I do have other ideas also in how it maybe possible to get round payment for treatment. if you would be interested i would like to share it with you???

Claire. please tell me every bit of information you can find out. My cousin and his wife had a daughter today after 2 boys. It's so hard watching people you know having what we want so badly.

Im with you on that but dont think about anyone else or there life. Feel positive to what you want and it will happen for you and i.

I hope this does not sound crazy but i have thought about sending a letter to channel four to explain about alot of women in our situation. When i first thought of it i was like no way, but after monthly research there are alot of women out there unhappy with the way nature has blessed them.  I would like to see if i have any response over them wanting to do documentary on women travelling abroad for sex selection!!!.

I will say after doing all my research there are in fact no fail safe methods of preconception sex selection so after 4 boys i would personally consider hi tech methods.

Claire, you should write that letter and see what they say. Most people  don't understand how it feels to really want a daughter (or son) that is because they have been lucky to have both. Where the kids have been on school holidays I've had so many people say I bet you want a girl. It's driving me mad.

We have talked about hi tech but the only thing that keeps us going is, I have a cousin and uncle who both had 4 boys before getting their daughter. My husbands Nan had 6 girls before having a boy. So you can get the baby you want eventually.

I'm from near Manchester, and after lots of research, have decided to go with PGD/IVF/MS in California. I know its really expensive, but its only what we would have spent on a new car!! Who needs cars when you can get the DD of your dreams!! I've been following Debs story as she has done sooooo much research into the whole thing. She is also from the UK.

I think its a great idea to contact Channel 4. Its just the type of thing they'd be interested in. They would only need to log on to In-Gender to see what a great need there is to get our laws changed!

AmyF  - I too have had trouble convincing DH to have another child, but he's happy with the PGD route because it means we can wait a while before trying (2 yrs). I don't mind a bigger age gap if I know I'm definately going to get a girl! My two boys are 16 months and 29 months.  It saves all that douching and what not!! He was pretty freaked out about the whole swaying attempt we did and I got a BFN at the end of a 40 day cycle!!

How do you think you may be able to get around paying for treatment? Please share!!!!!

I hope the others don't think we're trying to segregate ourselves... you can feel a bit out of it on this little island though can't you! I think people in Oz feel the same as its all illegal there too. America is just so much cooler!!

Its so hard to get hold of address for the correct peaple but as soon as i get any information i will share  it with all.

I agree with you people can be so rude when they say things like oh i bet you want a girl next. My aunt once said that i was a proper boy mum!!! and that really played on my mind. I always try and stay true to my feelings and say yes i do hope we get a girl next time and it then stops most questions. Not trying to segregate us uk girls it just seems so easy for you if you live in america.
