I was curious about how many people are hoping to conceive a boy vs. a girl.  It is obvious there are more girl seekers, but I wondered what the number really is.

Looking at the people who have answered the  "Hoping to conceive" question in the profile, there are:

TTC Boy = 65 (24%)

TTC Girl = 204 (76%)

So girl-seekers outnumber boy-seekers by 3 to 1 -- which is actually closer than I thought it would be, I think we have been seeing a lot of boy-hopefuls coming out lately and narrowing the gap!

As you can see, there are only 269 people who have actually set this in their profile, so if you have not done this, why not go in your profile and set it and I will check the numbers again!  To set this option:

• Click My Profile near the top (just under the Gender Methods button)
• Click the About tab
• Click Hoping to conceive baby boy or baby girl.  That's it!
  

When you have done this you will get a little stork with a pink or blue bundle displayed beside your username.  You do not have to be actively TTC to set this so we can count boys compared to girls!

Please note this is just a matter of curiosity, when I say "boys vs. girls" I don't actually mean boys "against" girls as if one is better!

Anything -- TTC currently, past, or future!  Even if you are just exploring the idea and hoping to TTC one day, or even already delivered.

(If you want you can turn off your stork later so people aren't going, OMG are you TTC again!!!  Which is what happened to me when I first set mine to test it, LOL.)

is there any way to use both or a "yellow" one for those of us who want to conceive but aren't going to sway?

I turned mine off once I conceived.  But of course I'm hoping it's a boy.

What a cool idea!!

I will keep the TTC boy because if we do decide to have a third, DH said the condition would have to be that this would be another boy!

I like this idea!  I was suprised to find that there are people here who don't have GD!

That's a good idea, but I can't easily set additional answers for that option.  It is supposed to be the "gender of the user" (whether YOU are male or female) -- which obviously would not be very interesting here since we are all female!  I have just changed the text and icons for it to mean which gender you are ttc.  Just put it in your siggie I guess!

I have been thinking about setting up some badges that you could add yourself beside your username, though. I would like to have  something where you could type "bbgb" and it would generate the icons like in my siggie for boys and girls by your username.  Also the method you're using to TTC (high tech, low tech, tbm, etc.)

That is a good idea Maureen! What about us nuts that would like to ttc a b/g twins naturally! LOL  Now, wouldn't that be an interesting thing....I may be testing that out in two-three years
