I need a stroller to take on public transportation to commute DS to school this year- my mcclarren which is light (around 11lbs) still feels too heavy and cumbersome.  Are there are super light weight strollers - we will need to walk several blocks with it - so it will need decent wheels as well.  Thanks

I've looked though some stroller websites and it seems that around 11lbs is as light weight as they get. Sorry

I think you could use an umbrella stroller by now , he seems big 3 right? I think those are the lightest you can get.

What kind of McClaren do you have?  I love my Volo!  It folds up easily and has a carry strap on the back.  I would guess it's between 8 and 10 lbs.  It's much sturdier than an average umbrella stroller, has a nice large sunshade, and storage underneath.  I highly recommend it!

He is a big 3- I see that cosco has an umbrealla stroller that is 6.5 pounds.  This may be an option for us- just hope it doesn't break the moment he sits in it!

that's another thing I like about the Volo - it can hold up to 65 lbs.

My suggestion was definately going to be the McClaren stroller but that's what you're using now.  I don't think there's anything out there any lighter that those that are durable as well.  Sorry, I don't have any other suggestions.

Ditto that! You can't beat a Mac Volo for ease of use, durability, lightweight and size of kid.

The Combi won't steer for crap w/a bigger kid in it - it's definitely a baby/toddler stroller, IMO. I'm not sure about the other one you mentioned, but I'd test drive it first because some of the light umbrella strollers are so flimsy and they just will be a nightmare to push through the city w/a preschooler.

I could be a Volo spokesperson, I love that stroller so much!  I use mine every single day!  Both boys are comfortable in it; and it's still easy to push with a 45 lb. 5 year old in it.

Ditto this, my 2.5 year old rides in it very well, and I think it steers o.k.  They have wheel locks on the front wheels that make it hard to steer if you don't have them off (the wheels go in all directions with the locks off, with on only one direction and it does not steer well with more weight).

Which Combi do you have? We have the super light one that folds in half and it is great for little ones, but steers horribly with toddler weight, IMO. I'm sure each model is different, but IME, the difference between the Mac Volo and Combi (I think Savvy??) is night and day. I gave up the Combi after my youngest turned 2 - just wasn't worth the fight to steer it.

Light weight strollers are the best option to buy for your baby which is easy to move from here and ther. I also like flexible light weight strollersfor my 1 year baby and is also best while travelling with family.
