Getting so bored here on my own all the time and I keep checking to see if anyone has posted anything new. Have taken to surfing all the other due date boards and commenting on them. Mia is doing great. She is such a good baby and her brothers adore her especially the little one. He has her driven mad. They seem more taken in by her now she is smiling at them. Their heads are always in front of hers!!! I can't believe how big she has gotten in the last 2 months and how it has flown. She is still waking at least once a night but goes back once she has her bottle and doesn't cry with wind so it isn't too bad. I just bought her a christening dress(another one as I didn't like the first one). Here is a picture of it. http://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages/showimage.aspx?gid=1427356&image=460182845&images=460182845,460182874,460182900,460182935,460182960,460182998&formats=0,0,0,0,0,0&format=0 I'll include a picture of my little Mia and hope to see pictures of all the little men and women born in March in return.

What colour are my sons eyes??

Hi girls, haven't posted in here yet. I hope you are all doing well, I've read a few posts quickly here and there but it's hard to stay posting all the time, especially with 4 kids and a business and house to run lol!!!

My bubba was due in beginning of March but ended up being born beginning of Feb, so he is just going onto 5 months old now. I've noticed his eyes are like my girls. My eldest, she had dark eyes, like you could see through the blue to the brown in the light - and her eyes changed by about 6 weeks. DD#2 had blue blue eyes when she was born, they have stayed that way, only I've noticed over the past 12 months that they haven't lightened but gone a kinda bluey green (mostly blue), DD#3 - same as DD#1 - brown by 6 weeks.

Now, my son, he had like a saphire blue eye, it looked really dark but really blue. Then around 4 weeks they started to look like a lighter blue (but still darkish) in the light, but then by around 3 months to now - this is what they look like (photo below). In the house, in the daytime, or at night with lights on - they look dark, but not definite brown, but in the sunlight they look to me like a hazel colour - really difficult to describe, but it's like a dark blue around the outsdie (thicker than the normal ring), then into like a greenish colour, then a brown. My dh has a bluey green colour eye and I have brown. Do you think that his eyes will change, has anyone had a child with eyes like this and what happened to them, did they go to brown??

EK! Its just been super busy with having 4 kids 4 and under. Not to mention my son Nolan just turned 1 and we had to do the whole party thing. But anyways...Ethan is here and healthy and just a super good baby...insanely sweet

STATS:

Ethan Russell

Born March 11th 2011 at 7:50am via repeat C-Section

7lbs 3oz and 19.5 inches delivered Frank Breech

So this was my 4th (and FINAL) C-section so I knew what I was gettin myself into. I was really nervous checking in but so excited to meet my little man. After check in I was walked up stairs and began the pre-op stuff. Monitored the baby's h/b and cx for 20 mins...IV....drank that nasty stuff to make you not vomit..etc. DH gowned up and the RN walked me back into the OR. DH waited outside until the Spinal was done. I started panicing once in the OR. Anyone whos had a c-section knows what the OR smells like....feels like (its COLD)...and had that stark bright light. The Anestheiologist was really nice and talked me through it. I hunch over for recieved the first shot in my back...OUCH! Bee Sting Ouch. Then came the BIG ouch. It actually didnt hurt like the numbing shot. This one was born like a deep brused feeling mixed with tingling. All was well and I laid back and got situated before the spinal took full effect. Starting at your toes....working its way up. Once fairly numb they put in the Foley Cathater...fun. They draped me all up and Dh came in. They started and I couldnt feel pain...just pushing and pulling. Even though this was my 4th c-section it seemed to be going faster. scar issue obviously didnt slow them down. All my csections were at he same time. All my kids born at 8am sharp. This lil guy came at 7:50. When it was close the Anestheiologist held up a mirror over the drape so I could see him be born! Something i never got to see with the others. It was CRAZY to see him come out and see all my guts, lol. He was butt first. All you could see were boy parts, lol. The doctor laughed. He came out SCREAMING..it was wonderful. My other son came out and went immediatly to the NICU, so it was nice to see him so healthy! As they were sewing me up my BP dropped and the Anestheiologist gave me some kind of epinephrine. I felt like I was having a heart attach...my heart began to race. What a trip! I began shaking like MAD. An effect of the Spinal I was told. They gave me demerol which took the shakes away at once. I spet a few hours in recovery and then went up to my room.

Once in the room I was put on a PCA pump. A button I could push every 8 mins that gave me 1mg of Morphine. It helped alot. Ethan got his bath and once all spiffed up looked so amazing. My little man! as the spinal wore off the pain hit pretty hard. I got ALOT of gas build up in my chest that was far worse then any surgical pain. They told me tea would help...and walking would. It was so ad that I couldnt even ly down. I didnt sleep for over 25 hours just due to the fact I couldnt lay in my bed. Morphine doesnt help that gas pain. Not to mention that kinda medicine makes you constipated. I know...TMI. But it was so uncomfortale I just had the RN give me a suppository. I took the bull by the horns (so to speak, lol) and afterward I fel alot better...in THAT department. By the 4th day I was well enough to go home. Ethan passed all his hearing and blood tests.

at home is when all the craziness happned. The kids came home and wre really grumpy due to being gone so long. It was really hard adjusting. But they love him...and we're slowly getting into our new routine. Infact, I recently went to Target....by myself...with the 4 kids. Yes, picture how THAT went. LOL. But I did it!

Pic of Ethan not in he hospital.

Ember Aurora pics

It's been monkey mania again...let's see if they'll let me post some photos.

Hospitalized for Failure to Thrive

So Ethan is 5 weeks old now and still not back to birth weight... He just now broke 7lbs and he was born at 7lbs 3oz. He was admitted to the Children's Hospital on the 18th to give him some IV nutrition and find out whats wrong. So far all the blood tests are normal but the barium swallow study shows that he is discordinated in his suck swallow reflex. He just seems to choke on his bottles. Which is sad because the only reason we started the bottles was due to the severe weight loss. So we determined that he cant take a bottle without asperiating his milk, so while I nurse him we use a supplemntal nursing system. Its basically a tube that is taped to my boobs that gives him the extra formula on top of the BM. Anyways...has anyone else have experience with Failure to thrive? maybe even with different kids? Its just so sad to see him in the hospital when he should be at home with his family.

Hello New Mums

Congratulations to everyone on the arrival of the new additions. I hope that you are all doing well and that your little ones aren't keeping you awake to much at night.

At first, I thought it was just a gassy period at night, but it seems to be following a colic pattern. Does anyone else have experience with this? It's so exhausting! She wants to go to sleep, but can't seem to settle. It happens from about 7 pm to 11 pm. It's not non-stop screaming like I have heard from some. She may even fall asleep for a bit, but then, 10 minutes later, right back again. She is a totally different baby by day - calm and happy. Any advice greatly appreciated. I heard this can go on until 3 months!
My water broke at 5:00am on March 30, 2011 while I was in bed. Luckily it was just a trickle, and was able to get to the bathroom before more came out. Got to the hospital around 6:00am, was 3-4cm dialated. About 2 1/2 hours later, was 7-8cm. By 9 am I was fully dialated and she was delivered at 9:05am. Had pure back labor, felt nothing in the front. For all my others it was a combination of back & front, so this was new. Found out my uterus had prolapsed a little; hopefully by my 6 week check up thinks will be back to normal. Doctor figures it could have been because of such a quick labor. Happy to have my last child with me and happy to not be going through labor ever again!

My little girl is finally here! 3/28/2011

Avonlea Mei arrived at 3:06PM on 3/28/2011 weighing 7lbs7oz 20.5 inches long. as snug as my other two and in no hurry to evict herself. My OB has
FINALLY realized the truth of what I've told him the entire time and is
putting me in for an induction first thing tomorrow. I am not thrilled
with how things are going; she's still very high up and wiggly and on
Friday her head was off to the side in an almost-transverse position, so
I really hope she has moved down. Anyway, one way or another this ball
will get rolling and I sincerely hope I'll have a baby by this time
tomorrow.
Wish me luck!

My very short birth story :o)

So our baby girl is here. Arriving a day after her due date on the 16th of March. Contractions started at 8pm and were every 4 minutes by 10.30pm. At 12.30am we called my Mother in Law to come over and sit with the boys. Contractions were still 4 minutes apart, but quite short and so I wasn't sure if it was "true labour", but decided to call the birthing unit and go in to be checked. We got there at 2.10am and the midwife decided to "observe" me for a while before checking me at around 3am and declaring that I was 4cm. Knowing that I still had ages to go, I sent DH out to get my bag from the car and also back home to pick up the camera as I thought we'd left it behind and home is only around 15mins from the hospital. By the time he got back (having stopped at the McDonalds drive through to stuff his face!!) I was on the birthing ball and still getting contractions every 4 minutes. At 4.25am, I decided I needed some pain relief and the midwife told me that if I got on the bed and let her examine me, I could have some.... as it turns out, we didn't have time for that. With the next contraction, I felt a pop and shouted that I needed to push. Two other midwives came in and hauled me on to the bed and with the next contraction and two pushes, she was out... still wrapped in her membranes.

It was a complete shock to me as I still thought I had hours to go and couldn't quite believe she was out, but so relieved that the pain was over.

So here she is, our 7lb 1oz girl - who still has no name :o)

Even more amazingly, my closest friend also gave birth to her son the same day, in the same hospital, weighing exactly the same and arriving exactly 13 hours later - to the minute and we were in neighbouring beds on the ward.

Congratulations to all of you who have also had your arrivals and good luck to those of you who are still waiting. I hope you have an uncomplicated and speedy delivery too :o) :o)

So nice to see so many arrivals! Well, the fear of induction was no need to worry. She came on her own on Friday, March 18th at 12:46 weighing 7 lbs 2 oz. She is perfect! My delivery was short and I was able to deliver naturally. My two boys are absolutely smitten with her and love to give her kisses. Bet ye missed me loads. Here's a picture taken today of baby Mia. Took aload of photos in the hospital but my phone started acting up and I have to bring it back to the shop to retrieve them. She was born by c-section at 9.49am on 15/03/2011 and weighted 7lb 9oz. I am finally happy to accept she is a girl although it took until the afternoon she was born and I was changing her nappy before I'd believe it. She is a really good baby and rarely cries, only when hungry and then it's more of a whimper so I feel blessed. Keep staring at her. She's so perfect.

Sophia has arrived!!!

I was supposed to be induced on Friday morning at 6. My OB preferred to go ahead and induce so the baby wouldn't get too large (I had gestational diabetes). I figured it was only one day before my due date, so that was OK with me; I was mainly afraid of induction because I've had a c-section in the past. I have had one VBAC since, and was really shooting for this birth to be my 2nd VBAC!

Of course the night before the big induction, my baby girl decided it was time to get things started! I had very painful contractions from about midnight on. I was trying to hang in there until my scheduled time to be at the hospital, but it was getting too hard to do so!

We arrived at the hospital at about 4:30 a.m. I was 5 cm. dilated. By 6, my IV was in place and we were waiting for my OB's orders to start induction anyway. I asked my nurses to please not start the Pitocin until I had my epidural, which they were kind enough to oblige. It turns out that I never needed the Pitocin anyway - it just hung on the IV pole untouched! Yay!! Unfortunately, we had to wait for labwork to come back before I could get my epidural, and it felt like a very long wait!

Finally, by about 8:15, epidural was placed. My blood pressure kept going down, so they did not dose the epidural as highly as I would have liked. Either way, though, the relief from those contractions was very good.

At 8:30, my OB came in and broke my water. Upon being checked again, I was at 9 cm. I began pushing when I felt the need, and all went very smoothly until actually delivery. I felt every bit of it. I guess the epidural didn't quite reach that area! I pushed through it all and by 9:05, Sophia was in my arms!

She was 8 lbs. 1 oz. and 20 1/4 inches long. I am absolutely in love and I can't believe I have a daughter! Here she is at one day old.
