I started last week at 37 weeks but usually start at 36 weeks, 3 cups a day and if you don&amp;#39;t enjoy it just add 1 teaspoon of sugar, it makes it more tolerable. It is not supposed to set off contractions but is believed to tone the uterus and soften the cervix in preparation for the birth. It has made both of my labours easier at 5 and a half hours each or this is what I have allowed myself to believe anyway. It is worth a try anyway as if the cervix is soft then surely it will dilate quicker? I am currently drinking mine now.
