was on the march 09 pregnancy club because Emma was due the end of
March but she ended up comming Feb 28th. She was born with a few
problems with her heart that have all cleared up, and she was just a
little twig for the first month or two but she has really chunked out
now and went from the 5th percentile to the 100th. She is behind with
her milestones by about 2 months cause she's a happy lazy baby but
she's slowly catching on and just finally rolled over the other day at
5 1/2 months from back to front, still can't do front to back and still
can't lift her head barely when she is on her tummy and still can't sit
in her exersaucer very well because she doesn't have much back
strength. I think she will be about 8 months by the time she sits and
because she has still yet to ever put one ounce of weight on her legs I
think she will be 15-18 months when she walks, but she's my last baby
so it's okay if she takes her time :)
hope to hear there are others here from our birth clubs.

March 09 Roll Call for September

Emit (Emilia) due March 26th, has hoping for .

Elliott Francis was born at home on March 18, 2009

I always knew deep down this baby was a boy, but it was such a wonderful and empowering birth experience (we had a homebirth and waterbirth), and he is such a calm and alert baby....I really feel like it was all meant to be.

I have some moments of sadness, mostly because I know this is our last child. Although I didn't really enjoy being pregnant for a 4th time, it is still hard to believe this part of my life is over, and a new chapter is beginning (maybe we can actually take that trip to Disney World in a few years!). I am now a mom of THREE boys, and my dd is completely in love with her new baby brother. She said to me the other day "Mommy, I don't want to have girl babies anymore when I grow up, I want to have BOY babies!" She's going to name them all Elliott- just like her new brother.

I posted a link to photos and my birth story in the birth announcement section.

Thanks so much for letting me take this wild ride along with you!

He was born on Friday at 12:39 in the afternoon. It was the best labor and delivery I have had. I had them give me the epidural before things got started so I had no pain at all. The only complaint I had at all was our room was so cold. Even the nurses said our room was colder than the halls or the other rooms for some reason. But all in all things went really well.

They told me and my husband they were worried he might be to big to come down the birth canal. He wasn't dropping down like he should. But in the end he was fine. My husband said the doctor lubed his head to get him out. I thought that was funny. When he did come out he didn't cry. Scared me I thought something was wrong with him. The doctor made him cry for a second. But as soon as they handed him to me he stopped. He is such a quiet baby. I just love him to pieces.

He is my biggest baby yet. 8 pounds 2.4 oz.

LOL I feel like i'm either sleeping or tending to one of the kids lately and then sleeping again. so long in the hospital and I felt so awake that when I was able to sleep I couldn't get my body to go to sleep that now my body is catching up. Plus waking up at 10, 12:30, 3, 5:30, 8 and then trying to deal with teenage attitude on spring break and a 2 1/2 year old jealous sibling is wearing me out.

thank you so much for all of your advice, unfortunatly it didn't seem to matter how many times I pumped my supply was dwindling by the day and yesterday Emma wouldn't latch on all day long. If she was a good sized baby I could have made her wait to re learn to latch when she got hungry enough she would re learn but I couldn't do that to her knowing that she needs every ounce so each time I eventually gave in and gave her a bottle. This morning is the 1st time that I didn't try to latch her on and took off my nursing bra in exchange for a tight sports bra to dry up what is left of my milk. I am sad but yet at the same time i'm just so glad to have her home and getting healthy that i'm okay with it.

Emma is doing great, she sleeps alot but when she is awake she is so peaceful just taking in the world around her, i'm so in love! She is up to 5 pounds 8.5 ounces so she's growing like a weed eating 2 ounces at each feeding every 2-3 hours so she's really packin in the food!

Here's a pic of me and Emma while we were waiting for our discharge paperwork, I never wear make up so this is rare! LOL

wannab Hope your C-Section goes well Today!

I hope everything goes well and you have a safe delivery. I've only got 15 minutes before a doc appointment so i'm just gonna give the quick version. Emma was supposed to be off her antibiotics last monday and get to go home after the doctors made their rounds that morning, my DH packed up my desk top computer he had hooked up in my room and all the stuff from the room and we were ready to go and so excited when the doc came in and said she didn't feel comfortable signing Emma out because she hadn't gained enough weight. Nobody told me that the night before when she had gained but only 2 grams that day, she was still under the 10% weight loss which was what we were told was the requirement to take her home. The doctor felt bad but said she didn't want us to have to be re-checked into the hospital in a few days even though I told her I would take that risk and if that is what was needed we would do that, her reasoning was that every scale is different at each pediatritians office and she wanted to keep track of her on the same scale. I offered to bring her back twice a day for a weight check but they refused.

we debated about checking her out AMA, we wanted her home so bad, I had been stuck on level 3 of the hospital for so long, the only time I could leave to go to a different level was when my DH was there but he was at home 99% of the time with our other 3 kids due to nap times and older boys in school so I felt so trapped all the time. Finally we all agreed to have her weight checked again by dinner to see if she would gain 15 grams and they would let her go. So to get her to pack on weight the nurse let her breastfeed for 10 minutes each feeding and then supplimented with formula but they only let her feed at the 10:30 feed and the 1:30 feed, she was due to eat again at 4:30 but they insisted on weighing her at 4 so of course she wasn't gonna gain much in just 2 feedings...after switching her to formula what did it get us. SHE LOST 2 grams! when I saw that I just crumpled to the ground sobbing, seriously I was a wreck. They checked her into the NICU overnight and wouldn't even let me room in with her anymore, saying that babies grow in REM sleep and that I pick her up too much and pat her back while she's sleeping too much and the noise of the other kids were keeping her from growing. The 5 of us drove home and it just felt so wrong not to be taking her with us. I cried myself to sleep and woke up the next morning rushing back to see if she gained 15 grams but instead them taking her away from me and her siblings and force feeding her formula instead of being at my breast she LOST 11 more grams! I just wanted to scream. I demanded they let me room in with her again and they agreed, although that room my DH couldn't even get the internet hooked up so i've been without a computer since monday that's why I haven't been able to post or read anything about you all.

Finally last night she gained 46 grams, 3 times what they were looking for but they still wouldn't let her go! I asked the nurse to have the doctor call me and they were supposed to come by so my DH and kids waited until 9 p.m. but nobody ever came. It was like they kept changing the rules, telling us what she needed to gain and when she did that they would up the amount they wanted, I just wanted to scream. The next morning they weighed her again and she gained another 30 grams and after the doctors made their rounds they agreed to let her come home!!! I was sooooooooooo excited! we are on our way out to take her to her pediatrian, please pray for me that she is still up what she had gained otherwise they said they are gonna check her back in.

unfortunatly all those days of supplimenting with bottles have made her mouth not form right anymore on my breast. even when I do get her to attatch she is not latched right and only gets 10 minutes of gulping before she delatches so then I have to give her the bottle. I have a hospital grade pump the base is letting me use but the amount i'm getting is going lower and lower and only getting 1/4 an ounce from each breast. I know if they had let us go on monday I would have succeeded at breastfeeding her but now I feel my dream slipping away and don't know what to do. I tried a supplimental feeding device which is like a tube attatched to my breast feeding her while she breastfeeds but she does not like it at all...I know we did what had to be done but I feel like each day she is getting more used to the bottle and less interested in nursing...i'm still pumping every few hours but from Emma not finishing me each time and the pump only getting small amounts my breasts this morning were 1/2 the size...I had gone from a AA to almost a C, now the B cup bras are baggy so I know I don't have enough milk for her. I am taking comfort in the fact that this time my body didn't fail her like all my other children when I didn't make milk, this time I had milk. Even when she was breastfeeding the nurses would come in with a bottle and say it was a written "order" I even said "what are you going to do take away my birthday if I don't put that in her mouth?" it was a constant battle to where they would guilt me into it until I just felt defeated, and now I feel like they have stolen this special experience from me and her....But atleast she is home!!!!

love to you all, i'll get more time to read everyones posts this evening, can't wait to hear how everyone is doing and who else has had their babies!

OK so now I am kinda freaking out....

ok so c section scheduled for tues at 530 pm. night. I shouldn't have even wasted my time, I knew it was going to
happen anyways. Of course I'm still 3 cm dilated.. hasn't changed since
Monday. And I've gone from 50% effaced to 75%.. but that doesn't mean
anything. It could be another week or two before I reach 100%.. And my
contractions are real, but they aren't regular enough.. they vary in
intensity.. So basically my body is doing nothing. It's just upsetting
that everyone I know who was having their first baby too, had their's
before or on their due date. Even my newsletters are e-mailing me and
telling me I should have my baby in my arms by now.. My ticker too. I
don't know why everyone else got their's with no warning signs, no
dilation or anything just a couple days before.. but my body can't even
seem to figure out how to do it properly. With my luck I'm going to end up being induced in a couple weeks.

I go to the hospital Tomorrow night!

My stupid OB is having me go in the night before she induces to put that softening thing in so I will be "ready" to be induced Friday morning. I signed the form to have my last tube tied so no more babies from me!

My OB really wanted me to let him do the c-section this afternoon, he was the one wanting to do the c-section this week all along, with my prior history of this being my 4th c-section and being cut like a T instead of the usual lower transverse c-section.

He kept turning to my DH with his back towards me like he thought he could convince him instead of me at the appointment today that the risk of rupture now outweighs the risk of the baby being premature since i'm 36 weeks now and that my uterus can rupture even without having contractions and then me and the baby would only have 15 minutes before I bleed out...just what every pregnant woman wants to hear huh? So now I have my DH wondering if we are making the right decision.

He checked for dialation and i'm completly closed and I haven't had any contractions or signs of labor or mucus plug or any uterine discomfort showing signs of rupturing so I talked him into waiting until Monday like planned. He kept saying if I changed my mind just come to the hospital, that is soooooo tempting with the charlie horses, back pain, rib pain, heartburn and the usual just wanting the pregnancy to be over but yet I really think the 5 extra days will help her lungs alot. With all my other pregnancies I was dialated a month early, a few times I walked around for a month dialated to 4 but this time i'm closed tight so I think this little woman would stay in even longer if I let her so I am trying not to let what the OB said worry me too much!

I really wish there was some way I could have a regular vaginal birth...I knew the moment they cut me vertically back in 2000 that my natural labor days were over, but it's still always in my head, longing for a regular birth like my 1st three pregnancies. It just feels so mechanical knowing when she will be born, how she will be born, just so un-natural when I know I could push her out if they gave me the chance, my biggest son was 9 1/2 pounds so I know I could do it, I just wish there was a way
