Good luck convincing DH as well! I think that is a realistic timeframe but it can happen much faster than that in many cases too.

We may be open to other ethnicities, but health is most important- especially to my DH. I think the agency wanted to give us a realistic time frame and not to get our hopes up about wait time.

I agree there is always time to save for a house. I think that's what my heart was already telling me. The time for a baby is now:) Now to convince DH!

There is no reason you shouldn't expect to get a health newborn girl through domestic adoption, if you specifiy you want a white baby then that's what you'll have. There is always more time to save for a downpayment for a house... how long can you wait for a baby? I guess that's the question. Good luck.

Hi all,

I've been a lurker, but now I want to be a joiner:) I want to do domestic adoption in about a year for a baby girl, but I have a few worries and am looking for some input from you all.

The agency I'm looking at is Adopthelp in CA- you can specify gender and the counselor quoted me about 2 yrs for a caucasian girl. Has anyone dealt with this agency? Good/bad reviews?

Also, I'm scared of the expense. We spent tons of money on infertility, and we only have enough left to put a down payment on a house OR adoption (we have about 30K in the bank). I did just start a part time job so I can save a little, but it will take a really long time to save enough money to do both. We have one DS, and my husband's quote is "We'll have all these great kids and no house to put them in!" (we do live in a cute little rental home now, though and DH has a good job)

Lastly, a healthy child is really important to my DH (and me). What can I expect with domestic adoption? Do I have a good chance of a healthy child going through an agency? We're especially concerned about FAS (please don't judge- I just think it is more than we can handle).
