Farah Hospital Jordan...who is going and who went?

Hello girls

I might cycle at Jordan aswell...we are planning to go there as soon as we can, which means earliest late summer 2010-end of 2010...december? Im having my 4th DS , my EDD is 9.3...but I want to be done with "babymaking" as soon as possible after that :)

Oh crap see what you all made me do???? DH is in Pakistan so we can do the PGD and was telling me that maybe we should think about moving our attempt to 2011 if our finances allow us to do that

That's great! When were you planning to cycle? We might all end up there at the same time! That would be fantastic!!!

Luci, we should be able to pay off all our debt (according to DH) by next year so hopefully late 2011 or early 2012 we should be able to start

Just a quick question for those ladies in the UK who are planning to use Farah...how much are you budgeting for the whole thing?? That includes treatment/travel/living expenses and accomodation while there. Figured I could start saving now for 2013...

Hi, I think £5000 should be enough but for us it might be a little more as we will be going in August, pick holiday season and we will be doing all the treatment there.

Im gonna budget £6000 and im also gonna do the whole 3 weeks there.

Do you have to spend 3 consecutive weeks there?  Am seriously thinking of PGD at end Dec 2010/spring 2011.  Already have an 18mth old boy & second boy due 10/3/10...not sure about the logistics of taking them both with us & hubby may have probs getting 3 wks off work.

From what's been said, Farah looks really good & feel really encouraged seeing people have success & am clearly in the same boat as you girls!

I am thinking about 2011 and have emailed with a few questions and got this reply which may be useful to people:

HIV,HBsAg and HCV should be done for you and for your husband . You need to stay in Amman for about twenty days. The program will start on day two of the cycle with hormonal injections and monitoring the follicles with vaginal ultrasound and hormonal assay. When the follicles are ready and this needs about 10-12 days from starting the injection then we give the final maturation injection. Thirty four hours after this, we will do the ovum pick up which will be through the vagina under general anesthesia. Three days after the oocyte pick up, embryo transfer will be performed. However, if you start the program at your end and you will be coming for ovum pick up and embryo transfer , this will minimize you stay for one week  

2-     You need to take Folic acid 1 mg 1x1 daily. When you start the program you will take hormonal injections (rec-FSH) + LH-Rh analogue

3-     The oocyte pick up will be done under mild short general anesthesia or what is equal to it. We transfer one or two embryos according to the age and the quality of the embryos according to the decision of the parents. The rest of the good quality embryos will be frozen if the couple requests this. 

4-     Security is very important for us also, we follow the system of double check (witness staff). A lot of detailed accurate measurements are applied and when you come to the unit, you are most welcome to visit our lab. and see what we do. Your husband can attend the operation and the rest of procedures.

I am still undecided especially at the length of time to stay in Jordan.  My periods aren't normally regular to the day so would be very difficult to book flights etc.  Would love to start off in the UK but it may just prove too difficult that way - anyone looked into UK monitoring?

me too, I would love to start the treatment in the uk, I found a fertility clinic, they are happy to start the tratment here and then travel to jordan for ovum pick up...However, they have no contact with Farah Hospital, so I have to do all the arrangement, I am not sure if this will work...the doctor in the UK told me that i may get very short notice to book a hlight when iam ready for ovum pick up...i do not want to stay 3 weeks with kids in jordan.,..its too long..

I dont want too really either, BUT if it means its the only way to have a chance at getting my daughter,il stay 3 months!!!!!! Where theres a will,thers a way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will do what it takes however ever difficult, whats 3 weeks?? nothing!!!!! :)

Whereabouts did you find a clinic who will start off treatment in the UK?  Did you just phone around to see if anyone would do it?  Did you say it was for PGD or just brushed over why you wanted to go abroad for ovum pick up...
