Why am I so tired?

I thought it was due to the Paxil I was taking (for PPD) but I've been off of that for a few months now. I switched from Paxil to Zoloft and after seeing that Zoloft has NO effect I quit that quite a while ago as well (it's probably been 3-4 weeks since my last pill). But I am still sooooo tired--actually, moreso now, that I was then. I have the hardest time waking up each morning and both Saturday and tonight I laid down about 5pm and took a little nap...so unlike me. I have just been dragging along constantly. What is wrong with me?

Do you think it could be your thyroid at all? I would go and get a check up from your doc if you can. Sorry you are feeling so tired. Hope you find out why soon. In the meantime, take care of yourself

Low iron is a possibility.
"If left alone in labor, the body of a woman produces most easily the baby that is not interfered with...If left alone, just courage and patience are required" -Grantly Dick-Read, MD "I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs" -Thomas Jefferson

My doctor actually gave me a referal to get bloodwork done on my thyroid (over a month ago). He thought that perhaps my overwhelming stress/depression could be linked to issues with my thyroid, but I just never cared much to get the blood work done.
I plan to do it today...

I plan to do it today... Constant feelings of tiredness as well as the lack of care for your own health and well-being (what you mentioned above about not caring to get your bloodwork done) are both HUGE signs of depression. If you haven't found the right medication (and you're staying on them for a solid 6-8 weeks before quitting) and you aren't going to therapy, please please please consider both of these ASAP.

You are bad Nissy!
Actually, I have to admit that summer time, we are all more tired. We have all been sleeping in until 8:30-9am....I swear it is the heat!

We've been doing that too, and it helps NONE!!! I wake up, to Alyssa's crys, at like 8:30 and my eyes are so dang heavy and hurt so bad I instantly think it's still 5am---until the clock proves me wrong

With the risk of repeating myself I have to say that it can be
a gluten grain intolerance that you are experiencing -
do you have any other symptoms than the exhaustion?
Are you bloated? Constipated or having stomach pains? Skin rashes
and/or canker sores (mouth ulcers)?
Sometimes there is also severe anemia from the non-
absorbption of iron when the intestinal lining is damaged by glutenins.
I would check this up as an option if I were you!

I know you are right...and I do know that I struggle with lots of anxiety (and depression in the mix), but unfortunantly my pcp doesn't feel comfortable prescribing me anything other than Paxil or Zoloft while BFing, and so I really have no other option, as far as anti-depressants go.
And as far as the bloodwork is concerned, I didn't get it done because with my current insurance I have to go to a lab (lab corp) to get bloodwork done. The wait for that place can be an hour or more, and with 4 kids it's not the first thing on my list of "to-do's". My insurance, as a teenager, allowed me to get bloodwork done at the doctors office, so much more convenient....

Thanks for your input as well. I had my iron checked about 2 months ago and it was "very good" as the tech put it. So I assume it still is good?!
I do get canker sores frequently (herpes, as dh LOVES to point out) but I've always gotten them, as does my mom. Other than that my only symptoms are extreme fatigue, my knee and ankle joints ache (probably from running on the treadmill), and I can't seem to lose any weight, despite my efforts :(

hrmm...i would definately have your thyroid checked. i don't know much about gluten intolerance, but it sounds totally plausible. is the lab open on the weekend? maybe you'd be able to get away for a couple hours & have DH or someone else watch the kids for you. i hope you feel better soon. i once went to my family dr. over fatigue & he did all the bloodwork just to come back & tell me i needed to take better care of myself. (ie get more rest, yoga, fiber, etc) he summed it up to anxiety. his suggestions did seem to help. hang in there.

Did it this morning...WITH all 4 kids--fun!!!! It actually wasn't too bad of a wait today. I think we were in and out within 30 minutes! The lab tech said it'll take 48-72 hrs to get the results to my dr.
