Day 11 u/s results!! (Question about uterine lining and estrace)

I went in this morning for my day 11 u/s for my MS/IUI cycle.  GIVF doesn't require it but I wanted to just check on the progress of everything.  I have 4 good follicles - 18, 16, 16 and 15, with a few smaller ones that probably won't catch up (14, 12, 10 and 10).  The problem is that clomid thinned my lining - it's only measuring at 4.2!  I think I've read on here that it needs to be at least 7.  How low is 4.2 on day 11? 

GIVF doesn't prescribe estrace as a precaution as HRC does.  However, I used to go to the doctor that's doing my monitoring, and I think she will prescribe estrace for me.  My dilemma is when to take it.  This doctor recommends starting it 2 days after IUI along with the progesterone supplement.  On here I've read only of women doing the estrace cream between the end of AF and the IUI.  The local doctor said that some women start it before the IUI, but that estrace can inhibit the growth of the eggs, so they prefer to do it after ovulation.  What do I do???  I'm leaning towards starting it 2 days after the IUI, but I don't want to wait too long and not give it enough time to build up the lining.  At that point it would only have a week until the egg implants - is that enough?  Help!!!

I did not do IUF (I did IVF/PGD), but with the lining improvement, I took Progesterone shot (IM) from the day of Egg Retrieval....and Estradiol patch. 

The most important thing is to consult with your main doctor who is doing your cycle.....you do not want to take anything without consulting with them, or, you can "suggest" your doctor, "I want to take xxxx as I have concerns....". 

Beginning of my cycle, I questioned a lot to my doctor....and he explained to me why he would (or would not) do certain things or medications.  You need to communicate with your doctor, and you want to feel connectetd and understood.  I think that is one of the most important element for the success. 

Good luck!  My doctor's office thinks I am crazy as I called them a lot, you sometime feel you don't want to bother them as much, but you should bother when something bothers you!!!

I agree that you should talk to GIVF about this. They may not prescribe Estrace as a precaution, but they might well be willing to do it when they hear that your lining was 4.2 on day 11. I don't know much about lining numbers, but if I remember right mine was about 7 on day 9. That was with Estrace. I've never heard about Estrace inhibiting egg growth. I used it from the end of AF until trigger (day 6 through day 12), and I had three mature follicles. I'm not sure what to tell you about timing, since I did it before the IUI.

Your follicles sound great, but you don't want to take a chance on not having a decent lining. But I think it's important to work with GIVF rather than get a prescription from another doctor without telling them. But if they say no, that puts you in a tough spot.

I will be perfectly honest with you, if your lining does not increase soon you will most likely have implantation issues.  I can't imagine that they would not be worried about your lining on Day 11 when it is 4.2.  I would press them hard for the estrace (GIVF).  In our office and on most of the places that I have heard about your lining needs to be at least an 8 to do an IUI or IVF.  My lining on CD11 was 12.5 but I was on the Estrace pills from Day 1.  I also did a natural FET so they didn't care what my follicles were doing.  I would just press them hard about it.

I agree!  I have no idea how GIVF works but if you can't get your lining up then I would tell them you want to cancel the cycle.  I wouldn't want to spend all that money if there was no chance for implantation kwim?

I cannot agree more and with 2 failed cycles, I wish I had done this with one of them.  I used estrace both times and both times prior to the IUI but on the first IUI it was after it was discovered to be low.  It thickened it right up.  I have never heard about the egg growth issue and that upsets me but it your lining is not thick than - implantation wont happen.

I'm also wondering if I have 4 follicles around the same size, will they all likely rupture about the same time?
