UK ladies planning IVF/PGD
|
|
hi ladies, dh and i have chosen to go with jinemed, af arrived last week and dh and i have had our fertility testing done in london, just waiting for our results and if all goes well we will cycle asap! we have decided to go for it twice and if it doesn't work then at least we've tried and we can move forward.
having said that, i am not feeling too confident about my bloods though as i had them done a few years ago and my fsh was 10.6. also at my scan they only picked up 7 follies (4+3) which is normal for my age but sigh.... sonographer said anything over 5 is good..
so will see will see, strange that in a few days time we will find out if our dream of having a baby girl is possible...
good luck all x

Hi girls, well I am very sad to say that I am now in the same situation as you and have to start from scratch... After countless positive pregnancy tests, 3 weeks after transfer I am bleeding heavily and have just done a negative test.
This is a great thread and I am not ready to give up so if its ok I will tag along with you and try to decide where to go from here. I just don't get it, I am a healthy, very fertile 27 year old with really good quality embryos and a 'perfect endometrium' and still it hasn't worked. What went wrong...

Hi mimosa75. What a great thread!! I have been on and off this site for a while now trying to get as much information as possible about PGD. I also am a mother of three boys. I am British and live in Spain. My youngest is 15 months now and I have been trying to find the right time to raise the subject with my husband. He doesn't really want to have another child and what with the economic situation we are all faced with now I believe it is a bad idea for me to talk about it! I'm biding my time. Jordan is the best place in my opinion (outside of the states). I think that you have done some great research and the results that you have posted on this thread are enormously helpful. Soon, I will pluck up the courage to talk to him about it!! I'm looking at December to start things off. xx.

Hello quinijo and welcome to the thread! It's never easy to talk about PGD, I didn't feel that I could be completely open to my ex husband about it but things are well different with my new partner.

Good luck with your husband, let me know how you get on. If you need to talk or need anymore info pm anytime.

Hi there
I am a UK Mum too and I have just been looking at your recent posts re PGD in Europe and would like to say how helpful they have been. I have been trying to research this myself and all the clinics I have contacted throughout Europe say they don't practice PGD for sex selection. However, I am a bit confused as to how you have reached your final amount for the clinic in Cyprus and would really appreciate it if you could let me know how you have come up with your total. The way I am reading it, it would cost £5030 (or thereabouts, worked out in my head minus calculator!!); ie £150 for the initial consultation, £2330 for IVF using own eggs and £750 for frozen embryo transfer. Are there any other costs invovlved that I am missing out on?! I'm really sorry to put all these questions on you but feel like I am banging my head against a brick wall with all the clinics I have contacted so far and would greatly appreciate some info so I can get the ball rolling on this one!
Many, many thanks in advance for you help. xx

Hi,
I have just realised what has happened! When I copied and paste the table unfortunately things didn't get divided properly! I have fixed it now, sorry everyone for the confusion.
Anyway it would cost £150 for the first consultation, £2330 for the UK treatment with all the medications, scans and counselling before going to Cyprus and 9500 Euros for the IVF/PGD in Cyprus, with the exchange rate at the time of my original text bringing the total to just a bit less then £11,000 without accomodation, flights and transfer.
I hope this helps. Let me know if I can help you in any other ways.

Luci, thank you so much for posting the replies from the different clinics. It's been so helpful! We are doing IVF/PGD in late 2010. We are moving to London in August and I will try and find a clinic there that will do the monitoring. We have decided to go to the Farah hospital in Jordan also!

Hi and welcome to this thread!
Lillylolly:Does anyone know where I could get monitoring/scans/blood etc in/around London?
I am sorry to say that you will find it quite hard, just this morning I thought I made a step forward only to crash back down to earth again! After waiting two weeks for a reply from the London Women's Clinic I called them this morning to find out if I could do the stimulation here in the UK and the actual IVF abroad and to my surprise they said it was fine!!! Great news as they run a clinic in Swansea and in Cardiff but of course nothing is straight forward and my happiness was very short lived! I called Swansea and the nurse told me that they would only be able to do the scans but not the stimulation!!! Of course I told her what they told me in London but after checking with a consultant she told me that they wouldn't be happy to prescribe medications or do anything but the scans especially not knowing my medical history etc.
I really don't think that you will find a clinic in the UK that will do this because of the high risks involved taking in consideration that PGD is illegal in this country.
Someone else had asked a similar question not long ago but I don't think she had any replies either.
Good luck to you. Luci
