I am so ok with surgery and would love to perform them etc. But today I watched a c section on you tube which I have watched thousands of these and others on tv etc. But now knowing it will be me i feel kinda freaked out. I also watched a spinal video and YIKES!! i hate needles!!! so yeah.... um..... i go for my pre-op tomorrow and then the big day tues..... kinda freaking out now.... does the spinal hurt??? I dont really care about the rest along as I am numb which I will be and trust the docs but the inital insertion of that spinal thing YIKES!!! also when do they put the catheter in??? I have never had one and would love it if they wait till I am numb??? hummmmm

The spinal doesn't hurt and I think they put the catheter in once you've numbed up and the blue curtain appears.  I will give you a bit of a warning though, when they are taking the baby out, they do a lot of rumaging around in your tummy and it doesn't hurt obviously, but it feels really weird and really uncomfortable, just prepare yourself for that!  Best of luck for Tuesday, it will all be over fairly quickly!!

yeah.... I dont mind doing the iv tube in my hand because they usually have to do it about 3 times to find a vein so I am used to it... (i have tiny ones!!) Plus it will be harder because I will have been fasting!!! The 3 times is when I am fully hydrated etc. my mom said when they are in there and ready to take the baby out it feels like a giant plunger sucking! lol I am not too worried about that it is just the getting numb part with a needle in my spine!!! YIkes!!! I am getting ready to go to do my pre-op testing.... i will let you know how it goes....hehehehehhehe tomorrow BABY DAY!!!!

The spinal wasn't so bad -- and they had a hard time getting it into me for some reason, so I had multiple pokes (and then got a spinal headache!).  When you're there, it just doesn't matter, you know?  You're getting a job done, you're excited to meet your baby -- you just go with it.  You had hyperemesis too, you've been in the hospital a lot this pregnancy too -- it's nothing scarier than that!  You'll do great!

You'll be just fine :) I see this is your first kiddo, why are you having the c-section (if you don't mind me asking, if you said somewhere else I must have missed it). As a PP said, Drs do these things all the time, and watching them it looks a little rough, but they will make sure you are totally numb before they start (I've never had a section, but I am a RN and I attend deliveries, so I've seen a whole lot of them). They will put in your urinary catheter after you are numb. Make sure your hubby takes lots of pictures!

I'm sorry I thought your c-section was today. Oops. I am sure everything will be fine.

I had one with this labor and it feels a little like getting an IV only in your back. It really isn't to bad. And after they do it trust me you don't feel a thing. To me it felt a little weird being numb. But I was so relieved not to feel any pain.

i have no c section experience or even spinal experience but just wanted to say that its so normal to get a bit worked up and freaked out whether you are facing a c section or just regular old birth.  I have gotton a bit edgy each time I was close to delivery.....I start thinking...OMG people die during childbirth etc!  try not to concentrate on the procedure etc and just think about the baby at the end!!!   good luck

My Fabulous Children

I remember with my DD # 2 I have to have a c/s because she was breech baby and that was the first time of my life having a surgery. I was so scared...and I even CRY when they did it the whole thing was new for me, but believe me everything will be fine after seening your baby you will forget all the tears.

Wishing you the best of luck.

You should never watch videos on it as they are bound to worry you. it is so quick gettign them out to, I believe, and you'll be focusing on the baby and not on the sewing up bit.

Baby Boy and Baby Girl and no longer hoping but have a full-term Baby Girl
