lime vs vinegar
|
|
I was thinking of switching up and doing vinegar douches this cycle -- always done lime previously. Is it just a personal preference? And for those who've tried both, what have been your experiences and the differences btwn the 2? Oh, one more question.....anyone know if the vinegar stings less than the lime? (for DH -- we've had issues with that ) TIA!

i've used both - the vinegar didn't sting. i felt more comfortable because the ph isn't so low - so i didn't feel like possibly my ph would go below 4 and kill all the sperm. with vinegar my ph stayed around 4.2-4.3 which i felt was better. i guess some women it raises ph so you'll want to do a trial run. i also liked the vinegar because you put the calcium in it which made me feel like it was going right to the source. i think it is a personal choice though - other than that vinegar raises ph for some - good luck!

What? I haven't started yet....but I didn't know it would hurt. I guess that makes sense though and I didn't think it through

the first month (lime month) - i didn't really tell dh about the douche thinking he'd be weirded out. but after our attempt, he complained of stinging when he peed (sorry tmi) which i can only attribute to the lime. the next month with vinegar he didn't have that problem, but of course he was like "what smells like vinegar in here?" busted!!

I did a poll a month or so back and more people were getting pg with the vinegar than with the lime. I think like 7 people got pg with vinegar while only 2 got pg with lime. IMO I think lime reduces your chances of getting pg and I am planning to switch to vinegar (but trying it out this month while not ttc to see what it does to my ph). Good luck!!

doesn't sway as well b/c it doesn't lower pH as well, or it doesn't freeze the Ys as well?

But homemade vinegar douche is still considered the best, or is the current thinking that it should be lime?

more complicated than that.. it comes down to minerals and acids. the acids in 7% vinegar causes calcium binding better; as does the lime and they both have more calcium

which do you recommend more Tamara - the 7 percent vinegar or the lime? I know the FAQs say vinegar but I thought I read that you said in another post that lime was the best, so I wondered if this is more current thinking? Thank you!
Also, is there any reason why you can't do homemade lime AND vinegar?

I always made the lime solution so I will probably make the vinegar as well....
