Has anybody ever...

...talked their DH into more kids to get their desired gender?  My DH is pretty set on only having 2 kids.  Now, I'm not even pregnant with #2 (I'm having some minor, correctable fertility issues right now, but am in the process of getting some tests done to see how we can fix things), but I think the fact that I'm stressing out big time is adding to me having trouble getting pregnant.  I know (or think?) this is my one and only shot at having a girl, and if I just knew I'd have other tries I wouldn't be stressing nearly as much.  So if I have another boy, what do you think my chances are of talking DH into trying again for a girl?  He only wants 2, as I said, and he doesn't care in the least about gender.  So he doesn't really get why I'm going through all of this.  Also, if I DO manage to talk him into more, will it be like forcing more kids on him?  Will he be unsupportive of future pregnancies and treat the kids differently?  He doesn't seem like the type, but I'm just wondering if any of you have experience with this?

I didn't talk him into more kids, but at the time, I think he was set on having 2.  But, then he said we could have another.  Then another!  He knew how badly I wanted a girl, and I love having kids anyway.  We never really talked about it, he just knew what I wanted and wanted to make me happy.  DS3 came after a friend of ours had just had a baby and I held him, DH knew how happy just holding a baby made me.  DD--he knew I still wanted a baby girl! 

You ladies make good points.  I'm trying now to stress how much I want a DD to DH.  Then maybe he will not have a problem with trying again for a third so I can get her.  You're right - I need to really make sure he's on board before that, though. 

 Yes when i had ds2 i talked dh into tryingone more time for a dd. Luckily i got her because Dh now had the big V to make sure i don't start hounding him againin a few months!

 Yep. I had/have my DH talked into having 4 esp if this one is a boy.....but once I had him talked into it, I did some soul searching and realized that I don't think I DO want 4...I guess I just needed him to give me a little hope. 

I'd like to talk my DH into one more, but he says we're done.  It's a difficult situation because there is no compromise.  Either one spouse gets what they want or the other does.  If I am able to talk him into #4 at some point in the future I have to be sure that I'm okay with getting another boy.  I might not ever get my daughter and I think it would be irresponsible to get pregnant just for the desire for a certain gender,  I have to want another child regardless......there are no guarantees and I'll be stuck with a baby either way. 

 I have no advice because this is currently a "sore" spot for us at the momentn. I agree that it is a really hard position to be in..especially when each of us are 100% on our own views.......soooo my current "compromise" with hubby is...once the implanon (contraception) is due to come out 2010...it is coming out and staying out. If he really doesn't want another baby by then, then he has to get the snip....if he doesn't get the snip once I have had it removed...and we get pregnant...then it took two to tango! We have settled and agreed on that.

i truly wanted another baby no matter what sex and my hubby wanted one too but we both really hoped it was a girl, we are having our third boy so just be 100% sure you really want a 3rd boy by going a 3rd time as 'going a 3rd time so you can get her' has no guaruntees love :)

Well I did not talk Dh into another baby or anything BUT I always said I wanted three kids and he was dead set against a third. Well when I completely and unexpectedly got pg this time I was the one freaking and crying  because I thought I had realized that we were done with our two we already had and he was the one that was really happy and excited and positive about this baby.  I still think its funny how at the time we were complete opposites of what I thought we both wanted.

I don't think it would be too impossible for him (your hubby) to come around to the idea of a third!

 Oh, yeah, I wouldn't mind a third boy!  Although I may also try to convince DH to go high tech for #3.  But let's work on one step of my plan at a time!

When we are 90 years old on our death beds looking up at our kids, will we always regret not trying that one more time? Thats what he said to ttc the second time when we got dd2 and the 3rd time for ds.  And yes he would have tried again if this wasn't a ds. I did not want to go threw life knowing dh was always wondering what if.  For me, his happiness in life is very important
