I'm ready to start PGD right now but where??????

I am able to fly to California, and I read somewhere that I need to be there for about 10 days, but when I looked at the flow chart posted somewhere, it looked like I would have to travel weekly (?).

If I go to California and only have to stay for 10 days, then I would imagine that I would have to work with an infertility clinic closer to home, but I live in Mississippi.  I am sure that no clinic here, or in Alabama, would approve of the PGD for gender selection.

I will be 40 in a couple of weeks and really want to start this process as soon as possible.  Please help me with the facts!

    Thanks

    Jennifer

I'm not the doctor but can tell you from experience that you can fly to California for the Gender Selection.  You will need to find a local monitoring clinic to perform a couple of ultrasounds and draw blood after you have started your cycle.  Those results will then be faxed to your Dr. in California.  As you get closer to ER (about two days before) you will need to fly out to California.  At your Doctor's office in California they will do one last ultrasound to confirm your follicles are a good size and then they will have you trigger and come back in two days later for ER.  You will then need to wait either 3 or 5 days until your ET.  After ET you will probably be put on bed rest for a few days and then you are able to fly back home.  It seems a bit overwhelming in the planning stages but really isn't bad at all.  If you are planning on using Dr. Potter, you will be pleasantly surprised at how "on the ball" he and his staff are.  Good luck to you!

Hi, I'm Jen B. and I am in exactly the same situation as you!! I'm 38 and really need to get moving fast. I want to start IVF/PGD but don't know where to do it. I thought I'd use GIVF because I'm on the east coast also (SoFL). If I don't do Microsort sperm for my IVF/PGD, then, I could use a local clinic -but I'm happy to travel to the place with the most experience with PGD and a place which will allow for GS. I'm going to ask the doctor about PGD clinic selection and whether to add MS to it. Thank you! Good luck and I hope we cycle together as we're really starting with the same question! Jen B.

HRC---where Dr. Potter works has a state to state list and you can call the individual clinics to see what services they may provide....not all will do the IVF/PDG just for gender selection but I know that some do in the southern states.....and some even use HRC to microsort...

This is the list of states with clinics----http://www.infertilityspecialist.com/fertility_clinic_directory.html

This is a North Carolina clinic-----they offer family balancing...which is the term Ive seen a LOT when they offer services to couples just seeking a specific gender.....

This is a clinic in NY that offers services too

    http://ecoivf.com/conditions_we_treat.html

When I hear back on the specific link to the Alabama clinic I'll post it.  Google "family balancing" and you will get quite a few hits for a selection of clinics.....some may not offer the extreme IVF/PDG/MS but most will offer the IVF/PDG.....or IUI/PDG....IVF/MS.....Just check under their services and most of the site list their fees as well.

We will be able to find a clinic to do some of the initial monitoring. We have had patients from your area previously without any problems. This way, you would only need to be in Southern California for 10-12 days. If you would like to schedule an appointment quickly, you should email cynthiaa@havingbabies.com and she will get things rolling.
