For those of you who are into statistics!! The chances of having a.....

AH!! Don't tell me that!!  I'm on #5!!  Mind you, I have a girl now, and then three boys after her.  

I think I'll just listen to Tamara about 50% either way!!  Which, I know is true logically, but emotionally, it feel like such a small chance of having another girl!!

 my husband has a son from his ex......but him and i togher have 4 girls and now a boy do any day now.......he comes from a family of 6 boys and no sisters....and i have 1 older brother and 1 younger sister......if you like statistics ill  tell you more family history ....so my husband has 5 brothers one of his brothers has 2 sons and 1 daughter in that order and his outher brother has a doughter on the way...thats it for him...my brother has 3 daughter and 1 son that order..none for my sis yet...my husbands farther has three brothers and 2 sisters boy first then girl then 3 boys then one more girl....my farther had 2 brothers and thats it..i dont know if helps with any of your intrest in statistics but i figured i give so history

serously thou i kinda figured how many times can u have the same gender, surely it would change at some point, im hoping at no.5  also one thing is really u would at some point have the other gender wouldnt u if u kept going but socity and money stops us from doing that so we would never know and also the world would be extremly over populated if we did...u know what im saying?

The stats are different for everyone depending on how many children they are going to have. If someone is going to have 6 children there are many vairables

eg BBBGGG, BBBBGG, BBBBBG, BGGGGG  etc.

 The more children you are going to have the better the chances of having your desired gender. 

SO for you if you asked me when you had 3 boys what were your chances of having a girl when you have 3 go's left (planning 6 children) 

you would work it out like this!

Your variables are

BBB GGG

BBB GGB

BBB GBB

 ( 6 options)

So out of every 6 families who have 3 boys first and plan on having 6 children 5 out of the 6 will have at least 1 girl! Only 1 out of those 6 (you!)  will have 5 boys followed by a girl!!  You had a 2 out of 6 chance of having 1 girl when you were 3 boys in!!! 

You are definitely a lucky lady!!  

Hope I haven't confused you more! This is really indulging my joy of the statistics of all this! Anyone else!!!  

 We only plan on having 3 and we already have two boys. So what are my chances? Not very good, I think, unless I help things out a little.

You know, I laughed so hard when I read this because I keep thinking in my mind, I'm not lucky enough...blessed enough or smart enough to get a girl. LOL

i know I'm just the same I always forget that I could just as easily have all girls next as I could all boys! I'm convinced it'll be all boys though! Think thats why I got into the statistics cause I just couldn't believe I had any chance of having a girl!

It's a case of Statistics versus Probability.  IE STATISTICALLY speaking you have a 50 / 50 chance (swaying, high tech etc aside) but the PROBABILITY is very different.  Here is an old post based on a survey of 6000 families.  You'll see that there is only a very slight variation away from the 50/50 rule with each subsequent child.  Remember this is only 6000 subjects.. if it had been done on a different 6000 it may have swung the other way.  As pp said.. it's no different to a toss of a coin.  Each time you toss you get a 50% chance of heads, but the probability of getting 5 heads in a row is less likely than heads combined with one/some tails but still very possible.  Try tossing a coin for the amount of children you desire.  Do it say 5-10 times and record the outcome.  Guarantee you it wont be the same each time.. that's your chances!!!  Luck of the draw, I'm afraid!!

What I'm talking about IS the probability!!!

The probabiltiy of having at least one girl over my next 3 children. There are only 8 possible outcomes for me ie BBBB BBBG BBGG etc

7 of those possible outcomes will result in 1 or more girls. Assuming the chances for each child is 50/50 boy/girl, the probability of having one or more girls is 7/8 or 87.5 %! 

 I'm not predicting their order but just on the chances of having a girl at some stage.
