SU sort #1

I Had my very first "go" at the whole SU process.  I was of course not "set-up" when my DH decided he wanted to, well you know...so needless to say I'm sure at midnight in my kitchen fumbling with a microscope, comdom, incubator, eggs and tests tubes I looked relly weird  but I was not going to miss trying the whole SU thing last night.  What a mess!  I put the condom in my shirt next to my boobs to keep it warm, spilt a little when I bent over, then I over cooked my eggs in the warming process FYI don't stick a test tube of egg whites in the incubator too close to the light.   Hey it was late!

I totally forgot to test his PH before I tried SU so oops (next time I think I'll write my steps down).

I was very happy to see what sperm look like under the mircoscope.  Those darn things are pretty cute!

Like most of you the EW layering the first time around could use some fine tuning.  They sank some but not all the way.  I saw the layers but a lot of the sperm were dead (not sure why).  I need to check what kind of condom we used, or just go buy some new ones. 

I saw the fast ones and then I assume the big headed lost looking slow ones are female.  I think next time (since I am just playing and not going to use the sperm) I am going to try adding some food coloring to the EW just to see clearly how my layering process is working and how far down they slip.  Do any of you worry about "dragging" some of the EW and male sperm to the bottom when you suck up the bottom layer?

Anyway have a good laugh on me, I have laughed at my funny kitchen drama last night.  I really beleive this (along with everything else) has some strong swaying potential and am excited to try to get a good sort.  I have time to fuss with it so I'll just sort away until I get alot better (or at least stop cooking the eggs and killing the sperm!).  Oh I forgot to add I smashed my first sample by putting it on a slide and then putting a clear glass peice on top, when I looked the poor little things couldn't move (how sad is that!).

I must be hormonal because I felt bad just putting all those spermies in the trash last night.  I guess once you see whats in that goo you feel bonded (I know thats nuts!).  Can't wait to try again!  I think I'll dye the EW's blue to call the boys up next time I try SU!

That is too cute and I totally think I am going to feel some connection with the spermies after I see them too!!!  I was just thinking today how I feel like I am a science project!!!  I can't wait to try this and now I can take some tips from your experience!!!  Thanks for sharing and I can't wait to see those girlies in there looking lost (now I know what to look for).

You'll have to let me know how your first SU goes!  Have you bought your microscope and supplies yet?

  I have a microscope and now  I have to find darn chicken eggs and the powdered eggs.  Tomorrow I  am getting the incubator.  So, as soon as I find the eggs, then I will experiment!!  I just want to see if we can really get a separation.  If I see that it works, then I am up to do SU along with TBM and the lime and water douche and lime soaked tampon!!!

I just used a regular egg out of my refrigerator since it was just practice.  I'll get farm ones later when I get a little (hopefully a lot better).  What do you use the powder for?

Where do I get farm fresh eggs?  Are those just organic eggs?  Do I test ph with the ph strips?  AHHHHH!!!!!!  I still can't find an incubator that is priced inexpensively!!!!  I am going to try all of what you said...Sudafed, lime douche or vinegar....is vinegar 7% better???  Also, supps like calcium 1200, b6, magnesium 250, baby aspirin 81mg, folic acid, cran tabs...etc.

I bought the incubator on the equiptment list for 17.00 and it seems fine for what we need it to do.

Go to walmart and buy preconceive.. it is much cheaper
