Yes, they are really expensive!  But, i have nothing to compare it to?  I have never adopted before.  Any insight to what a international adoption should cost would be very helpful.  I know every country is different though. Tongue Tied

Re: Does anybody know about EAC (European adoption consultants)?

it really varies!!  like which country, agency, age of child, even gender!  and special needs or healthy?  independant or agency?  only a couple countries let you go "indy."

i would say 30K is average.  Russia is usually more like 40K these days Tongue Tied  but, lots of women on this board are spending that much money on high-tech cycles, and some are getting their girls but some are not, either because they don't get pg or have an opposite or have a m/c Sad  so even though adoption is FAR from a "for sure" thing, i feel it's better odds for me than high-tech!  plus, i don't feel like i'd be 1 of the "lucky ones" if i tried high-tech!  and my heart is with adoption so...  money is relative.  a lot of people spend that much on a new SUV or car, but can't justify spending it on a child.

but also the gov. will give you back 11K in tax credit and there's all sorts of adoption loans & grant programs!

yeah i was expecting $35,000-$40,000.  I agree completely on the whole high tech.  Not that i wasn't considering it but if i am going to spend that much money i better be pretty sure that i will have my little girl in the end.  I could spend that much on high tech and never get pregnant or worse m/c.  Plus, i have always had a heart for adoption.  I really want to adopt from Guatemala, i so hope they open back up.  This really stinks because i have to wait before i've even begun the paper work.  Needless to say this will be one long adoption journey! Sad
