New to board. Wondering about everything . . .

So, to make a long story short I am coming from the high tech boards.  I am actually still pregnant with DS (due in 8 weeks!).  DH has started having second thoughts about high tech after this child because I have hard pregancies and after years and years of saying he would never consider adoption (and esp. after we had no trouble having children of our own) is now considering it.

I have not read back that far on the posts but it looks like it is near impossible to request a girl through a domestic agency.  Has ANYONE been successful with this?  Why won't they let you work with birth mothers who already know the sex of their baby?   Is private adoption an option?  Has anyone been successful with finding a girl through private adoption attorneys or birth mother locating agencies?  I know private adoption is steap but we likely have the resources due to saving for high tech and we both receive adoption grants through work.

We may consider Russia, also.  DH is a wonderful person but will not consider a child who is not the same race as us.

I will probably have many, many more questions.  Any info would be wonderful!

Baby Girl-11/06 Shettles success Baby Boy-10/08 Shettles opposite  Never thought I could be but very happy with my baby boy! Still would love to have that second girl-deciding on high tech or adoption for number 3???

Re: New to board. Wondering about everything . . .

I found two agencies in Utah that will let you specify girl, we opted out because of a few different reasons, but they are both crazy expensive, one is a minimum of 30,000, the other is around 45,000 once you factor in all of their outside costs.  Private adoption is an option, but then you have to advertise and then find your birthmom and then go to the agency for the legal stuff (I think this is how that works).  I think I called 30 agencies in Texas, and only 1 would let me specify, they have a mandatory info meeting that we could not attend until Feb. of 2009, so we crossed them off our list.  I think domestic is a great option, we just couldn't find an agency that we felt good about.  We were told that only 50% of birth moms know the gender, as many have not had prenatal care, so no ultrasound, so then you figure only half of those are having a girl, and the chances of your profile being shown is very limited.  Then several told me the story of the ultrasound not being right, and then what do you do.  Anyway, that is what I know from my hours of investigating on the internet and calling most agencies in my state.  Congratulations on your new baby and Good luck!
